Swim Meet 101 

Gators Swim Meet Info for New Families!  

Welcome to your first swim meet! Hereโ€™s everything you need to know to make it a smooth and fun experience. 

๐Ÿ“…, Picture When to Arrive: 

  • Arrive at least 15-30 minutes before warm-ups (times will be sent before each meet). 

  • Check in with the coaches upon arrival. 
      

๐ŸŽ’, Picture What to Bring: 

โœ”, Picture Swim gear - suit, cap, goggles (bring extras just in case!). 

โœ”, Picture Towels โ€“ at least 2, as they get wet quickly. 

โœ”, Picture Chairs/Blankets โ€“ for seating in the team area. 

โœ”, Picture Snacks & Water โ€“ meets can be long, so stay hydrated and fueled. 

โœ”, Picture Cash โ€“ grab a breakfast sandwich or burgers at concessions. 

โœ”, Picture Sunscreen & Shade โ€“ hats, umbrellas, or pop-up tents for outdoor meets. 

โœ”, Picture Sharpie Marker โ€“ to write event info on your swimmerโ€™s arm. 

โœ”, Picture Team Spirit! โ€“ cheer on your teammates and have fun! ๐ŸŽ‰, Picture 

๐Ÿ…, Picture What to Expect: 

  • Warm-ups happen first, followed by some relays, then individual events. 

  • Events will be calledโ€”help younger swimmers get to their lanes. 

  • Be ready for lots of cheering and an exciting team atmosphere! 

  • Meets can last several hours, so be prepared to stay and support the team. 

  • Remember to stay after the meet to help put the pool back together for our community.
