What are Time Trials?
Time Trials are always our first ‘meet’ of the season. While the meet is just Adelphi swimmers and doesn’t count for scoring in the league, we use the meet to determine swimmers’ seed times for our first meet, assess areas for improvement for specific swimmers and the team as a whole, and practice a meet run-through before our first official meet of the season.
Who should attend Time Trials?
All full team swimmers should participate in Time Trials. It’s a great opportunity for swimmers to get used to the rhythm of a meet before an actual competition. Although meets are competitive, the Adelphi Dolphins strive to keep them fun and upbeat no matter the outcome.
How and when do I let you know if my swimmer can make Time Trials?
To let us know if your swimmer can make Time Trials, or any other meet, you should log into your Team Unify account either using the OnDeck app or through the adelphidolphins.org site. Go to Team Events, choose Time Trials, then click on your swimmer’s name and let us know if they will or will not be there. It’s important to let us know either way.
The deadline for declaring meet participation is NOON on the Tuesday preceding the meet. So, for Time Trials this Saturday, we need to know by noon on Tuesday, June 7, whether or not your swimmer will attend.
Which events will my swimmer swim at Time Trials?
Our coaches will decide which events swimmers will participate in at Time Trials. Some swimmers will swim four events and some swimmers will swim two or maybe even one. How many and which events your swimmer participates in is no reflection on them as an athlete. Our coaches will only ask them to swim events they think are appropriate for each swimmer. Coach Austin will be sharing more information on this soon, so please reach out to him with any event questions: [email protected].
How can I help at Time Trials?
Swimming is a family affair and especially at Time Trials! Since it’s just our team, we’ll need everyone’s help with the meet. If you have only younger or newer swimmers, we completely understand the need to attend to them until they’re comfortable. We just ask that one adult member of your family volunteer at the meet, if possible. We have many families who have both parents or guardians working the meet. We’ll send around a volunteer sign-up sheet in the next day or so.
How will I know what and when my swimmer will be swimming at Time Trials?
Once the coaches submit their entries to our data manager, the data manager will create a meet program which will be shared with families at some point on Friday. If you’d like to follow along with the meet, please print your programs at home and bring them with you. We won’t’ have additional programs at the meet.
How will I know my swimmer’s times from Time Trials?
During the meet, you can see your swimmer’s ‘real time’ results using the MeetMobile app. The app costs $5.99/year. If you’re not interested in purchasing the app, we will announce results during the meet as well as post results on the pool house throughout the meet. Results will also be available in pdf form after the meet and for your own swimmer on your Team Unify account.
If you have any questions during the meet, just find someone in an Adelphi Dolphins t-shirt and they will be happy to help you out. If you have questions about your swimmer’s results, please reach out to the coaches.
If you need further clarification on anything, please reach out to me at: [email protected].
