| Unlike other team sports, it literally takes a community effort to run a swim team. While the primary swim team mission is focused on the swimmers, the swim team experience is truly a family activity. We could not hold meets and provide additional opportunities for Stingray swimmers without our parent volunteers. A typically swim meet requires approximately 50 adult volunteers in various roles, and when we host a home meet our team will be required to fill about 30 of those volunteer positions. We need all families to help in some way at any meet in which their child swims. If all families pitch in to fill the volunteer positions it ensures that no individual or family will be overburdened. There are a variety of volunteer positions that need to be filled at every meet. Some positions require certification or training, but many of the jobs require no prior experience. Visit Volunteer Positions to learn more about what roles are available and the requirements, if any, for each position. By helping out at the meets you not only help ensure that this opportunity is available to Stingray swimmers, your children will also appreciate your taking an active role helping the swim team have a successful season both in and out of the pool. |
