Calling all Tigers - High School Swim and Dive season is here!

Calling all Tigers! High School Swim and Dive season is here! Here’s the opportunity to share our Glenwood spirit across the MCPS and Independent high schools, get some off-season pool time, and boost winter athletics. These are great teams bringing together swimmers and divers from across MCSL/MCDL teams as well as swimmers and divers not involved in summer leagues. 

General logistics:

·       Each MCPS school has a two practices per week schedule, (typically one morning, one afternoon) using the area Montgomery County Recreation Centers (Silver Spring, MLK). Meets are held Saturdays throughout the day, limited to 2-hour windows (includes both diving and swimming), and held at MLK, Silver Spring, Olney, Germantown and Gaithersburg pools. They go fast!

·       MCPS offers coached, all-county diving practice for all schools. We currently know that Wednesday afternoon practices will be at MLK. 

·       Scrimmage meets begin November 30; first in-season meet is December 7; meets run through January. Post-season meets continue in February with Divisionals, Metros, Regionals and State Championships.

·       Swimmers and divers can continue to compete in club swim and dive; logistics for practices are worked out with their coaches.

·       Meets rely on parent volunteers! Details on assisting with timing, judging, and automation is available from your home team. Here is a great place where Glenwood families can share our meet management expertise!

·       Registration is due through each school’s website and has a hard MCPS deadline (confirm on your school's ParentVue page).

Independent schools hold their Swim and Dive seasons on similar schedules (and meet up with MCPS teams at Metros in February)! Reach out to your schools for those specific logistics.
