Five Bits of Info You Need to Digest Now

Brent and Ruth Gilbert

Good evening, folks.

We're past the halfway point of the season (crazy, right) and we've still got plenty of news bits and bytes to be thinking about. By the time I get done writing this, it'll probably be late, so I'm not going to spend too much time on the intro. Let's just get to the goods...

FIRST BIT: COMMIT, COMMIT, COMMIT... Embrace your inner Tony Orlando (yes, I know that's an ancient reference) and click three times on the website if you love us. We have THREE meets left and it would be absolutely IDEAL if you would take a minute or two right now to commit or decline your swimmers for ALL THREE MEETS so we can plan accordingly. This week's meet commitments are due tonight anyway and Divisionals is always due early, so it just makes sense. I'll wait...

SECOND BIT: VOLUNTEER... We're looking pretty strong for this week. If I were a betting man, I would expect to see the Friday Night Setup option to show up in the next day or so. We just need a couple more timers, a couple more runners, maybe some more help up in clerk of course, and a water runner for the second shift. (That's a job that works for folks with younger swimmers and people who recognize that jam of a song I referenced in the first bit). Anyway, I know we are always asking for help, but it's only because each meet needs a lot of helpers and we truly appreciate how many of you all are stepping up each week.

THIRD BIT: CLINICS... THERE IS NO MAKE-UP PRACTICE TONIGHT but there are clinics... tonight's clinic is focusing on Butterfly and attendance will initiate a metamorphosis to the next stage of butterfly execution for each swimmer... pretty soon we will all be incredibly fly. Thursday's clinic will be covering the art of the backstroke start. As always, the 12 & Unders start their clinic at 7:45pm and the 13 & Overs start theirs at 8:15pm.

FOURTH BIT: TEAM SHIRTS... We're down to a couple dozen folks still missing their team shirts and we've got them waiting for you. This includes EVERYONE who registered, EVERYONE who ordered an extra shirt (and some of you still need to pay), and EVERYONE who was a guppy and is now on the team. (To be fair, some of the Guppy grads are going to look like they are in a cap and gown, but it's all good). Come see us at practice or at least the meet to pick up your shirt (and cap for a few of you).

FIFTH BIT: PEP RALLY... This is the big one. The one that all the swimmers love. Each age group will compete against each other in a boys vs girls battle of mental maneuvers, physical prowess, and random randomness. The swimmers in each group will coordinate with each other to pick a team theme and create a look (uniform), flag, and team name. The overarching theme is "Decades" but we get it, kids don't always understand that, so as long as the whole group agrees, pick a theme that is rightly presentable and it will be great. Come to the pep rally decked out in your age group team's gear and bring your "A" game. And yes, there is a prize for the winners...

Now, some logistics. Parents, we know that corralling all these swimmers isn't exactly easy, so to help, we've created group emails based on each age group. These email groups include the email that you registered with and (in theory) you'll be able to email with your fellow age group parents and decipher what all the kids are talking about and how that's going to translate into a uniform and all that fun stuff. Here are the groups (pretty self-explanatory)

NOTE: We didn't create groups for the 15-18s because they are pretty much going to do their own thing anyway, am I right?

FINALLY, for dinner at this fine pep rally, we have a Pizza order form again. Head over to the sign up genius page: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/8050c4cacab22ab9-bwaves1#/ and pre-order your pie(s) now. Orders due by Thursday at noon. Bring your cash or check (made out to "Bridlewaves Swim Team") to the back lot around 6:30pm.

Okay, I think that's enough. See you on deck.
