The 411 on Volunteering

 Hey Lancer Family!

 

This is your Volunteer Coordinator, Sarah Smith. I am supposed to introduce myself and share some things about me and my family. 

Some things you should know about me- I LOVE people! I love organizing things. I LOVE our Lancers! I love beating the other teams! I also love fishing!My family has been with the Lancers for 7 years. One of our favorite things about being on the Lancer Team are the relationships and friendships that are built each year. Some old and some new. We love going home to our two pups, Charlie and Maggie, after practices and meets.

 

Now, on to volunteering!

 

Why do we need parents to volunteer?

Because Parents are the ones that run the meet. We do everything. If you don't volunteer there is no meet. Your kids don't swim. 

Hence...parent volunteering.

 

There are MANY positions to help in. Tomorrow there is a volunteer run through. I HIGHLY recommend going. Absolutely go if you are new. Definitely go if you have already been with the Lancers. A refresh is always good.

 

I would also HIGHLY recommend going through the Lancer Handbook. Read it with friends, read it alone. Read it at home. I know there is SO MUCH information but we will help you with all of it.  At NO TIME is this a figure it out on your own situation. I am your person. ANY questions you have send them my way. Coach Lauren and Margi are also available to answer questions. Most families could help you out as well. If there are special circumstances that we need to know regarding volunteering, please see me. 

*It should be noted that every single position allows you to see your child swim. 

 

On practice days you can find me on your left when you first walk on the pool deck. I will likely be wearing a red Lancer visor. At meets I will have a tent and table at the front of the pool (in front of the lifeguard station). This tent is where you will find your nametags and what position you volunteered for at swim meets. Another area to volunteer is Concessions! This is where our team makes the $$$! We ask famillies to volunteer to bring food (a sign up will be released soon) to concessions. Then concessions turns all of it into beautiful, lovely food stuffs for everyone to buy at the meet. Concessions needs to run smoothly. Please Consider possibly helping for more than one date at concessions? 

 

I am ALSO the person to see about swim caps and goggles.
