WESTRIDGE WAVES RIPPLES Team Information:
History: Team created by former WAVES swimmer, Alex MacDonald
Team began in Summer 2014
Ripples Head Coach: Beth Christensen
Goals: Develop swimming skills & confidence to be part of the WAVES competitive swim team. Focus will also be on basic water safety, pool rules, fun & friendship.
- Learn to Swim Program for ages 4-6 (if younger, inquire with coaches before registering by sending a message via the "Contact Us" link on the website)
- Perfect for kids with disabilities
- Low intensity
- Practice: 25 minutes every other day from the first day after PWCS school ends until the week before Divisionals (typically scheduled for the last Saturday in July)
- Low Swimmer to Captain ratio (4:1)
- Focus on:
- Confidence in water (including Deep water when ready)
- Body Position / Ready Position Push Offs (both front & back)
- Endurance & Stroke Discipline through repetition
- Freestyle & Backstroke Technique
- Swimmers own pace to develop swim skills
Example Ripples Practice Schedule: Groups A and B are divided and alternate swim practice days each week (3/2 or 2/3)
*Evaluation day is Tuesday 28 May; First official Ripples Practice for the 2024 Season is Monday 10 June and last practice is Friday 19 July.
