It is that time of year again for our Annual Swim-a-thon! We are in our fourth year, making huge thrives towards making the aquatic facility at Harvest Community School our home. Each year, Coach Carlos creates a priority list of immediate needs. The improvements are for the safety and vitality of our swimmers for today and tomorrow. Come be a part of history!
This will be our largest fundraiser to date and provide us with an opportunity to raise a significant amount for the team. In addition to this being an exciting fundraiser event, it is also a fantastic opportunity for our swimmers to socialize and have a fun time doing what they love best – SWIM!
What is a Swim-A-Thon?
- Swim-A-Thon is a fundraiser in which participants earn money for their team by swimming lengths of the pool.
- Swimmers have a two-hour period to swim a maximum of 200 lengths. Participants get pledges from businesses, family, neighbors, etc. before swimming.
- With over 500 Swim-A-Thons conducted each year nationwide, this program has proven itself over and over again as a successful method of raising funds for teams.
Family Commitment
- We need a $200.00 fundraiser commitment, per family, to help with:
- Aerators
- Pool Maintance
- Pool Covers (H)
- Facility Fans (B)
- Equipment Storage (B)
- Power Towers (H&B)
- Team Tents
- Deck Heaters (H&B)
- Bleachers (H&B)
- Dry-Land Equipment
- Special Events
How do I get Pledges?
- Pledges are collected online through our website
- Ask family, friends, teachers, neighbors, business associates, etc., either by going door to door, writing a letter, texting or calling on the phone
- The online portal makes it quick and easy to select a swimmer, a swimmer’s family, or subdivide a pledge for a family with multiple swimmers
- You don’t have to complete any forms to keep up with your donations. Everything is organized online through the portal
- All donations need to go through the website. If a friend or family writes a check, deposit the check into your bank account then transfer it through the website to the designated swimmer.
How much money should we raise?
Every team member must participate! A team effort is needed by everyone to accomplish our goal. Please remember these pledges will significantly help our team.
What’s the deadline to have all our money in?
All donations should be submitted online in by November 30th.
Do we have to participate?
Yes, we all have to. Since this is our biggest annual fundraiser for the team, we would like every swimmer to participate. It is not difficult to raise pledges, all you need to do is ask! See the schedule below for each training group:
- Masters - 6:30 arrive, 6:45 start, and 7:45 am end
- Elite/Advance - 7:45 arrive, 8:00 start, and 10:00 am end

Parents Information
- Please encourage your swimmers to participate. Don’t just limit your swimmer’s list of pledges to family. Suggest swimmers branch out to local businesses, your family doctor, dentist, insurance agent, tax accountant, real estate agent, or lawyer.
- Please plan on supporting your swimmer(s) by counting lengths during their swim. Jobs will be available on the sign-ups section under the events on the webpage under the Swim-A-Thon event.
- Volunteers are always needed to make any of our events successful. See what is needed below:

- Counters for swimmers

Ideas for Pledges
Writing a letter for the fundraising campaign is more successful because people like receiving personalized mail. Sample letters are provided below for mailing or hand delivery. Additionally, your swimmer can make phone calls to obtain their pledges.
SAMPLE 1
Dear Aunt Mary,
Did you know that I’m a swimmer? I swim a lot every day and I’m getting pretty good. My swim team is raising money by having a Swim-A-Thon and I’d like you to help me by pledging $50 or $.25 per lap. I will be swimming 200 lengths (I hope).
Thank you very much for helping my swim team and me!
Love,

SAMPLE 2
Dear Mr. Neighbor,
I swim competitively for the Wahoos Swim team. This year our team is raising money by participating in a Swim-A-Thon. The money raised goes towards our facility which needs repairs and renovation, lighting for parking and the pool, and other swim programs. You can pledge any amount. If you prefer you may make a flat pledge or per length. I hope to swim 200 lengths. If I can count on you for support, please call me at (phone number). Thank you for your helping our swim team!
