Overview
Swim Meets are an important part of our program and we suggest that all of our swimmers attend them.
Swim Meets divide the kids into different age groups for the purpose of competition. Boys and Girls will swim in separate events within the following age groups: 8&U, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-16, 17-18. There might be other groupings to move the meet along, but these decisions are made at the discretion of the host team.
There may be different events offered at each meet. Swim coaches will choose the swimmer's event based on the swimmer's ability.
1.There are six possible events from which individuals (with coaches’ consent) may choose. For children ages eight and younger, their events include:
- ·25 Freestyle
- ·25 Backstroke
- ·25 Butterfly
- ·25 Breaststroke
- ·50 Freestyle
- ·100 Individual Medley. (IM is where you swim all 4 strokes in the order of Butterfly, Backstroke, Breastroke, Freestyle)
2. For children ages nine through twelve, their events include:
- ·50 Freestyle
- ·50 Backstroke
- ·50 Butterfly
- ·50 Breaststroke
- ·100 Freestyle
- ·100 Individual Medley. (IM is where you swim all 4 strokes in the order of Butterfly, Backstroke, Breastroke, Freestyle)
3. For swimmers ages thirteen through eighteen, their events include:
- ·50 Freestyle
- ·50 Butterfly
- ·100 Backstroke
- ·100 Breaststroke
- ·100 Freestyle
- ·200 Individual Medley. (IM is where you swim all 4 strokes in the order of Butterfly, Backstroke, Breastroke, Freestyle)
Before the Meet
ITEMS TO BRING:
- Team Shirt
- Swim Suit
- Goggles
- Swim Cap
- Towels
- Chairs
- Water/Snacks
- Tent (appreciated if you have one the team can use)
- Something to keep the swimmers entertained
AT THE MEET
- Please arrive around 15 minutes before the assigned warm-up time so you can find a place to settle down.
- Before the meet starts, the entire team will warm-up together.
- When the meet starts, swimmers will wait for their event to be called to the ready area.
- Please come talk with the coaches BEFORE you go to the ready area so we can discuss strategies for each race.
- When the swimmer’s event is called, the swimmer will go over to the ready area and receive a card with their heat and lane on it. The swimmer will give this card to the timers when their heat is ready to swim.
- After the swimmer swims the race, they should come back and talk with their coaches. Coaches feedback at the end of your race is really important.
- This process will be repeated for each event the swimmer swims.
- Please make sure your child is not in a relay BEFORE you leave. We will have relay teams posted for your convenience.
HEAT SHEETS:
The heat sheet is a meet program with all of the events listed in the order they will be appear, the number of heats per event, and the lane assignments for your swimmer. Heat sheets will either be sold at the event or sent in an email for download. The host team determines how the heat sheets are distributed.

After the Meet
- Please check-out with the coaches before leaving the pool deck.
- Make sure all of your belongings are with you before leaving the pool deck.
