Head Swim Coach-Emily Detwiler 

My name is Emily Detwiler and I am the head swim coach for the Hilliard Marlins. 

I have been coaching for the Marlins for over 16 years and have coached every age group. In college, I swam for the University of Findlay for 4 years as a sprint and mid-distance freestyle and backstroker and for Hilliard Davidson and HURY (YMCA) in high school. 

Marlins is the perfect place for swimmers of all abilities to improve their strokes and sportsmanship in a safe and fun environment. I look forward every year to coaching and I hope you find the Marlins to be a wonderful experience for your family as well.

Age Group Coach-Addie Johanssen 

Hi everyone! My name is Addie Johanssen! I am a going to be a Junior in the fall at the Ohio State University. I was a competitive swimmer for 12 years of my life from ages 5-17. This will be my fourth summer coaching for the Hilliard marlins! I have been the head coach for the 8 and unders but I have also helped with all groups!  So excited to meet you all and excited for the season!!

Age Group Coach-Ava Snider 

My name is Ava Snider and I am so excited to coach with Marlins this season! In my own swimming career I have swam Division I at FGCU for two years, and my best event was the 200 backstroke. I’m most excited to see the kids improve and gain confidence throughout the season. I can’t wait to be part of their progress and help make it a fun, positive experience!

Age Group Coach-Owen Johanssen 

Hello marlins families! My name is Owen Johanssen and a little about me is that I began my swimming journey at the age of 9 with the Hilliard Marlins and continued with the team for 6 years. I swam competitively for 11 years, including at the collegiate level with the University of Cincinnati. This summer marks my fourth year coaching the Marlins, and I’m excited to meet all of our swimmers and their families. I’m looking forward to another fun and successful season together!

Apprentice Coach-Katie Johanssen 

Hi! My name is Katie Johanssen. I am going to be a junior at Hilliard Davidson. I have been swimming for about 10 years and this will be my second year coaching for marlins. Last season I coached the 11-12 and 8 and under’s. I am so exited to meet everyone and have a fun summer!!
