Shrewsbury Sharks Swim Team

Registration is open for the 2025 season!

For more information on joining the team, including practice times, meets, team communications, volunteering requirements, swimmer readiness guidelines and the registration process, be sure to read the parent packet (link below) for full details prior to registering your swimmer(s).

The Shrewsbury Sharks Swim Team is part of the Southwest St. Louis County Municipal Swim and Dive League. The league is a recreational summer swim and dive league with teams from cities in the St. Louis area. All teams are sponsored by their respective city’s parks and recreation departments. Membership to the Shrewsbury Sharks Swim Team is open to swimmers ages 6 – 18, Residents and Non-Residents. The season begins the week of Memorial Day, with 6 weeks of morning practices Monday-Fridays, and 4-5 swim meets during the season (dual meets, intrasquad fun meet, and conference prelims/finals).

Swimmer Eligibility: All swimmers must meet our minimum safety requirement to join the team: Swim team is not a replacement for swimming lessons. For their safety: all swimmers on the team must be able to demonstrate the following skills: Swim one length of the pool without stopping; appropriate freestyle arm movement, body position, and kicking to propel themselves in the water; and rhythmic breathing with face in the water. We do not expect swimmers to have a perfect stroke. These steps are taken for safety precautions, as we want to ensure a swimmer is able to meet the requirements needed for practices and meets. If your swimmer is unable to meet the specific skills required by the deadline (the Fun Meet in June) a full refund will be given.

PRACTICE INFORMATION

Practices are scheduled to start the week of May 27th. Practice times will be confirmed once we have enough information to determine age/practice block groups.
Tentative Practice Schedule: 6:45-7:45 AM Ages 13 and over, 7:45-8:30 AM Ages 11-12, 8:30-9:00 AM Ages 9-10, 9:00-9:30 AM Ages 8 and under.
Please make sure your child is supervised outside of their practice time. Our coaches/parent reps/lifeguards will not be expected to babysit children left unattended at the pool.
Arrive to the pool on time and be ready to get in the pool when your practice block begins.
Please ensure your swimmer has visited the restroom prior to practice.
Long hair should be tied up or under a swim cap. Each swimmer will receive a cap this year.
Remember goggles, towel and warm clothes for cool morning practices.
During the first week of practice, coaches and parent reps will help direct swimmers to their lane. Swimmers will stay in the same lane for all practices during the season, unless otherwise directed to change by coaches/parent reps. Coaches will rotate between the lanes during the season.
