HOT TOPIC: CLASSIC & CITY CHAMPIONSHIP MEETS

Are you getting excited for our Championship Meets? They are the culmination of a season of hard work and a chance for swimmers to show off the results of all those practices at the pool! The swimmers have lots of fun at these meets, both competing and cheering for their team, and also at the social events leading up to them. Parents, please try to arrange your schedule so your swimmer(s) can participate! After all, you wouldn't skip the end of season soccer, baseball, or basketball tournament, would you?   Tall Grass WON both CLASSIC and CITY Championships last year. Let's REPEAT this year!

ALL TGL swimmers (parents) should make sure they swim EITHER the CLASSIC OR CITY CHAMP MEET.

Here is an overview of each meet:

CLASSIC:

When:  Saturday, July 20 - TGL swims in the afternoon session

Where:  Neuqua Valley HS

Who:

ALL 6&Under swimmers must swim CLASSIC.

  • there is a small chance that 1 or 2 6&U swimmers may also be asked to swim "up" as an 8&U to help with RELAYS or because they have an "exceptional" time that may finish in the top 16 at CITY.

If your swimmer has 0 or 1 CITY times, we would highly recommend that your swimmer swim the CLASSIC meet.

If your swimmer is 7 years or older and has achieved a CITY time in an event, your swimmer is not allowed to swim that particular event at CLASSIC.

(CITY qualifying times can be found on the TGL website under Heading: Times, Subheading: City Time Standards.)

Why:  We are the defending Champions of the CLASSIC meet the last 2 years - Let's make it a three-peat!

CITY:

When:  Friday, July 26, evening session -- seniors

  Saturday, July 27, morning and afternoon sessions - 7/8, 9/10, 11/12, 13/14 age groups

Where:  Metea Valley HS

Who:

ALL 13/14 AND OLDER swimmers can ONLY swim in the CITY MEET.

If your swimmer has 2 or more CITY times, we highly recommend that your swimmer swim in the CITY MEET.

If your swimmer qualifies for 1 CITY time and is also needed for a TGL Relay, your swimmer may be asked by our coaches to swim CITY.

If your swimmer qualifies for 1 CITY time and the date of the CITY MEET is a better fit for your schedule, you may request to Coach Davis to swim in the CITY MEET.

(CITY qualifying times can be found on the TGL website under Heading: Times, Subheading: City Time Standards.)

Why:  TGL WON its first ever CITY CHAMPIONSHIP last year! Our goal for 2019 is to REPEAT and that will more than likely require 65 plus swimmers at the CITY MEET, so please make every effort to participate!

We are planning to hold a meeting for parents to attend and ask any questions they may have about these meets. More info on the time and place will be forthcoming soon! In the meantime, please feel free to ask Coach Davis or any Board member.  Go Lightning!!
