Christine Paik

Swim Team Practice Starts Tomorrow!

1st Day of Swim Team Practice - What Do I Need to Know?

ACTIONS REQUIRED:

PAYMENT DUE:
Your swimmer's registration is not complete until payment has been received.
Payment is DUE no later than today, Sunday, June 14, by 6:00pm.
Drop off your payment in the mailbox of TGL Treasurer:  Mini Samuel Landtiser, 3740 Mistflower Lane, Naperville, IL.

  • A minimum of 80% of monies collected this year will be paid directly to our amazing group of 20 TGL coaches.

HEALTH FORMS:
In case of emergency, TGL keeps health forms on site and readily available to our coaching staff. We ask that you please complete the attached health form for each of your swimmers and email it back to [email protected] as soon as possible. You may also leave it in a sealed envelope in the TGL bin on her front porch at 3552 Vanilla Grass Drive, Naperville, IL.

WHAT TO EXPECT THE FIRST DAY:

What do I wear?

  • Swimsuits: One piece suit for girls. Jammers for boys (this is a skin tight suit that comes down to just above the knees.)
  • Goggles: Goggles are not masks. A cloth mask is only required for COVID-19 reasons. However, we do NOT suggest wearing a Scuba MASK instead. Goggles allow for efficient breathing, vision and comfort.
  • Caps: A swim cap is highly recommended, especially for any swimmer with medium to long length hair.
  • SUNSCREEN:  a must for swimmers with practices at 10 AM or later (SPF 30 or higher). Be sure to apply 15 minutes prior to arriving at the pool.
  • A cloth mask/face covering for entering and exiting the pool. Swimmers will remove their masks and put them in their bags prior to swimming.

What should I bring with me?

Swimmers should bring their own bag with the following (mask already on):

  • Full water bottle (water fountains will not be in operation)
  • Towel
  • Goggles
  • Cap (recommended)
  • Hand sanitizer

What is the arrival procedure?

Drivers & Parking Lot --

  • Park in the TG Pool parking lot. Remain in your car with your swimmer. No congregating in the parking lot.
    • Sorry, Drive-by Drop-offs are not allowed this year.
  • When it is time for your swimmer to enter the pool, a coach will come out to the parking lot and raise a sign with your swimmer’s lane number on it.
    • Lane numbers are on the practice schedules
  • When you see your swimmer’s lane number called, your swimmer should exit the car, MASK ON, and walk to the coach holding the sign.
  • The coaching staff will screen your swimmer for symptoms. If your swimmer is clear, your swimmer will be directed to his/her deck home base inside the pool facility. Please do not leave the parking lot until your swimmer has passed the screening. If your swimmer does not pass the screening, he/she will be sent back to your car.
  • SAFETY CONCERNS: Please exercise extreme caution driving in the parking lot as there will be children walking to and from the pool.
    • We are encouraging  you to spread out in the parking lot

“BIKERS”

  • Park and lock your bike at the bike rack.
  • Put on your MASK as soon as you arrive.
  • Stay at least 6 feet away from other swimmers or “bikers” who are there.
  • Wait outside the pool facility until you are signalled by a coach to enter.
  • When it is time for you to enter the pool, a coach will come out to the parking lot with a sign with your lane number on it. (Lane numbers are on the practice schedules).
  • When you see your lane number called, walk to the coach holding the sign. The coaching staff will screen you for symptoms. If you are clear, you will be directed to your deck home base inside the pool facility. If you do not pass the screening, you will be sent home.

What should I expect at practice?

  • Once inside the pool facility, each swimmer will be directed his/her on deck home base - a personal spot or disc that is numbered to leave their bag/belongings.
  • Swimmers will be instructed to remove their masks prior to swimming and leave them in their bag at their on deck home base.
  • Coaches will direct swimmers to their lanes, with one swimmer on each end and one in the middle. This is their in-pool home base.
  • Swimmers will remain in the same lanes each day, to the extent possible.
  • When practice is over, swimmers will exit the pool by lane, return to their on deck home base where they will pack up their bags and put their mask back on in preparation for dismissal.

What happens if there is inclement weather?

  • Practices are held rain or shine.
  • Part or all of a practice will be canceled due to thunder or lightning.
  • There is no hard rule on air temperature and the pool is heated (84 degrees) but if you feel your swimmer will be too cold, it is always your prerogative as a parent to keep your child home from practice.
  • TGL will communicate information regarding practice cancellations via e-mail and Facebook ASAP. In addition, the Head Coach will send a text alert to those who sign up for this.

What is the dismissal procedure?

  • Swimmers will be dismissed by lane (3 at a time).
  • They will be required to wear their masks until they get to their car/bike.
  • Parents must remain in their cars.
  • Please exercise extreme caution driving in the parking lot as there will be children walking to and from the pool.

COVID-19 PROTOCOLS:

The TGL COVID-19 Protocols were sent to all team members yesterday and are now posted on the TGL website. Please read and review the entire document before coming to practice and ensure your swimmer is familiar with the expectations outlined in the protocols.

We realize some of the protocols may seem strict, but the SAFETY of our swimmers, our coaching staff, and our families must always come first. We ask for your cooperation in helping our swimmers follow these new rules.

  • A swimmer who arrives to practice exhibiting any of the COVID-19 symptoms will not be allowed to enter the pool and will be sent back to the car. Parents, do not leave the parking lot until you see your swimmer has been allowed to enter the pool facility. Bikers/walkers will be instructed to return home.
  • Use the restroom at home and wash your hands for 20 seconds before coming to practice.
  • Masks/face coverings are required for entering and exiting the pool facility. Have your mask on when you get out of the car. Bikers, put your mask on when you arrive in the parking lot. Keep your mask on until you are inside the pool and instructed by the coaching staff to remove it in preparation for swimming. Swimmers must stay in their assigned deck and pool home bases - no crossing into other lanes. Any swimmer not following these rules will be removed from practice immediately. Please make sure your swimmer understands this rule.
  • Entrance/exit procedures - Swimmers will be called by their assigned lane (3 at a time) to enter the facility and will be released to exit the facility in the same manner. Please look for a coach holding a sign with your swimmer’s lane number to signal when to enter.
