Get ready for a summer full of fun, friends, and fast swimming with the Barclay Barracudas! The Barracudas range from ages 5 to 18 years old. We will practice five days a week this summer, focusing on stroke technique, starts and turns, and racing strategies. Whether you are just learning to swim or have mastered all four strokes, we will never turn a swimmer away because of ability. Our coaches are dedicated to helping EVERY swimmer reach his or her full potential. We work with swimmers individually, by age group, and with the whole team. The older swimmers are also wonderful leaders as they root for their younger teammates, lead cheers, and work very hard in practice.
The Coach
We are delighted to announce that Coach Jeff DeNick is joining our ranks as the new Head Coach of the Barclay Barracudas!
He brings with him an extraordinary track record of success and a passion for the sport, and most recently served as Head Coach for the Voorhees Stingrays, leading them to an impressive 4-1 record in 2023. Coach DeNick has also trained and developed Tri-County Qualifiers in multiple summer swim programs throughout South Jersey over the last 18 years including Riverdel, Medford Village Country Club, Riverton, and Westwood Swim Clubs.
During the year, Coach DeNick serves as a guidance counselor at Delran Middle School, helping kids with scheduling, crisis and daily counseling, IEP meetings, amongst other responsibilities.
He also has a remarkable tenure as the Head Coach for the Moorestown High School Boys swim team, where his list of achievements reads like a championship playbook. Six Burlington County Swim League Championships, four SJISA Coaches Invitational Championships, five Sectional Championships, and two State Championships—these accolades are a testament to Coach DeNick's unparalleled leadership and unwavering commitment to excellence.
His dedication to his swimmers and is ability to create an inclusive environment for all swimmers has earned him a number of individual accolades such as six Coach of the Years honors, including the Star Ledger and Courier Post Boys Swimming Coach of the Year for the 2013-2014 swim season. Coach DeNick was also inducted into the 2019 New Jersey Scholastic Coaches Association Hall of Fame—a truly remarkable achievement!
Coach DeNick's coaching philosophy emphasizes not only technique, endurance, and stroke proficiency but also the invaluable bonds of camaraderie and teamwork. Under his guidance, we can expect our Barracudas to thrive in an environment full of enthusiasm, excitement, and unwavering support.
