Parent Meeting

Swimming Age Groups
We do get questions from parents of new swimmers about whether to sign up for lessons or swim team. Safety is our priority so if you are unsure please discuss with Coach Jeff your child’s ability, and he will help guide you to the best path forward. Our guideline is your child should be able to make it down the length of the pool as well as tread water. Usually, the youngest age is 5 years old for the swim team. Barclay Farm has the “Cudas in Training” program for new swim team members who want to be part of the team but are not quite ready for competition. Most new swimmers start in this program (held at the same time as the 8&Under practice) and quickly move into the 8&Under level practice lanes.
For those swimmers needing more personalized swim instruction, swim lessons are for sale and will be held after the 8&Under practice is over starting on June 23rd.
Equipment:
For meets the athletes will need a competitive suit, preferably the team uniform from our store on Nexxt Level Aquatics Pro Shop. If your child can reuse last season’s suit that is fine but there is a new design for this season if interested. In addition, the apparel store will be on the Nexxt Level Aquatics Pro Shop as well. As part of your registration a team shirt is provided for your child (based on their size entered at time of registration). For any additional team apparel please order through the website.
Athletes should have an additional practice suit as they are swimming every day. Swimmers need well-fitting goggles (2 pairs minimum). Swim caps are preferred. The team has fins, but if you prefer your own please feel free to bring them. The team has kickboards.
NL Aquatics address is 333 Preston Ave, Voorhees, NJ 08043
Please have your child come with a dry towel and warm clothes as the water is cooler early in the season. Also, athletes should bring socks/sneakers as they may be performing dryland exercises.
Lastly, water…your child sweats while swimming and will need to stay hydrated.
