TIPS FOR A SUCCESSFUL MEET

THINGS TO BRING:

  • SUNSCREEN
  • Chairs
  • A tent or umbrella (and a way to anchor the umbrella)
  • A blanket or ground cover for the kids (the ground, especially at Foothill High School, can get very hot)
  • Two towels per swimmer. Label towels with your family name.
  • A Sharpie to write your swimmer’s races on their arm, hand or other place where they/you will see it. (Or bring pen and paper).
  • Extra goggles and caps (if needed)
  • A t-shirt to wear over swim suit when not swimming
  • Hats and sweats
  • Small board games, card games, books, etc.
  • Drinks
  • Snacks and/or $ for the snack bar

OTHER TIPS:

  • For swimmers in age groups younger than the 11-12 age group, find out who your swimmer’s Age Group Coordinators (AGCs) are before the meet starts. Confirm with them how many events before your swimmer's race you should bring your swimmer to the designated meeting spot. Parents are responsible for getting swimmers to the Age Group Coordinators at the appropriate time; the Age Group Coordinators should not be needing to look forF swimmers before each race.
  • Find out where the current event number will be posted at the meet.
  • Have your swimmers go to the bathroom 10 events before their race.
  • Go to http://www.trivalleyswim.us/ and read the League Rules.  This will help you to better understand the meet, scoring, judging etc.

CHEERING:  Parents and swimmers alike are encouraged to cheer on team members.  However, parents are asked not to crowd the timers.

GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP:  Parents, please remember that this is a fun, recreational league. We are all volunteers.  If you see or hear something at practice or a meet that needs to be addressed, please calmly discuss it with one of the Team Coordinators. Please understand that running a swim team and meet takes a lot of work and a lot of coordination, and if you have a good idea on how to run things better, please come talk to us.
