Overview:

The Jr. Gator program is a developmental program for young athletes (ages 3-6) who are not yet comfortable swimming a full 25 yard length lap. The program focuses on water safety and basic techniques in swimming, using a variety of equipment and coaching strategies to get the athletes comfortable swimming alone. Each athlete will be accompanied by an in water coach who will help guide them each lesson. The goal at the end of the program is  for the athlete to be able to swim a full lap either unassisted or partially assisted. Throughout the season the Jr. Gators will have the chance at home meets to show off there speed!

Equipment:

The required equipment includes: goggles, bathing suit, and fins. Swimming caps are not required but recommended for keeping hair out of the athletes face. All other equipment (kick boards, noodles, etc.) will be provided for.

Fins with an attached heel (as shown by the picture) are recommended and can be found on many different websites.

Moving Up From Jr. Gators To 6&Under Age Group

If an athlete wishes to move up to the 6&under age group and officially join the Granite Bay Gators team, they can do so if cleared by the Jr. Gators coach as well as head coach . Typically an athlete can move up if they are able to cross the length of the pool unassisted. If cleared, a prorated rate can be given depending on how far into the season we are when the athlete moves up.
