ERRA vs Spotswood - 6/22/21

Jolanthe Erb

We had another successful meet last night! Congratulations to all swimmers on our first win of the season against Spotswood! Thank you as always to the parents who volunteered and made it all happen. We appreciate everyone's patience leading up to last night's meet, especially with the addition of the relays and the reconfiguring of heat sheets. We had a lot of great swims last night and we hope to have many more this season.

Tomorrow, the coaches and I will going around to the swimmers who are at practice and writing down each swimmer's stroke preferences. If you know that your swimmer will not be at practice tomorrow, please feel free to email me their preference at [email protected]. Though we want to ensure that swimmers are able to swim what they want to, this does not mean that they will always be swimming their preferred strokes every meet. The coaches and I put a lot of time and effort into figuring out what the best events are for every single swimmer. We put them in events that we believe they will succeed in. I realize that not all swimmers may be as comfortable with some strokes as they are with others, this is okay. We are trying to encourage kids to swim as many different strokes throughout the season so that they see improvement in ALL of them instead of a select few.

In regards to relays, we are doing our best to get as many kids in relays as possible. With last night being the first time we have had relays in 2 years, not everyone was put in a relay. Swimmers will not be put in a relay every meet but the coahces and I are doing our best to make sure that every swimmer who wants to be in a relay this season is put in one.

This Saturday's practice will run more as a technique and development day. We will be featuring one of the four strokes every Saturday. This is to help swimmers who may not be totally confident in swimming the stroke, but also to help those who are confident but need more practice and feedback on how they are doing. We encourage all who can make it to Saturday practices to come!

You guys have some awesome kids and are some amazing parents and we are looking forward to a wonderful rest of the season!

Best,

Haley Saunders
