Important Upcoming Dates:

 

Wednesday, April 16th - WCSC Parents’ Meeting - Back to Swim Night

Wednesday, April 16th - Last day to place a Silicone Swim Cap order and order team suits to arrive by Time Trials

Sunday, May 18th - Time Trials

Wednesday, May 21st - Home Meet vs. Livorna at Larkey Swim Center. 

 

Coaches’ Update: 

 

We had a FANTASTIC first day of the 2025 season on Monday! Although the weather showed us a little of everything, our swimmers had a wonderful time swimming and reuniting with teammates. A few things to note this season:

  • Weather- We swim in all types of weather including the cold and rain. Practice will never be canceled due to the weather unless there is lightning, poor air quality or if the City of Walnut Creek needs to close the pool due to a safety reason. If this happens, we will send out an email to all families immediately to alert you. 
  • No Age Group Coaches- This year we are not having specific coaches designated to an age group. I have created a schedule where every coach will be on a rotation so that swimmers will have the opportunity to work with all five coaches each week this season.
  • Fins- We use fins during practices with all age groups. Please be sure your child’s fins have their names on each fin with Sharpie. If your child does not have their own pair of fins, please have them grab a pair from our “fin bin” prior to their practice beginning. This can be found to the right of our team shed under the star recognition board. The bottom of the fins will show sizes. At the end of each practice, your child is responsible for picking up their fins and either returning them to the fin bin or taking them home. If your child accidentally left their fins at practice, they will be placed in the fin bin to grab at the next practice. 
  • WCSC Social Media- Are you on Instagram or Facebook? Join our private team pages! Instagram: @wcsc_news and Facebook: Walnut Creek Swim Club (cover photo is a banner that says “We Love WCSC”)
  • Time Trials- We will welcome Coaches Katie and Lily back for the season on Sunday, May 18th, so be sure to mark your calendars for our first meet of the season where swimmers have the chance to swim all events! Will they be on Team Blue or Team Red?! That’s right! This year we are running our Time Trials as an intramural meet and going all out to show our team spirit! Unable to attend certain meets this season? We kindly ask that you sign out/decline before the deadlines. Thank you!

WCSC PARENTS MEETING - Back to Swim Night:

 

We highly encourage all new parents to attend this important informational night!

  • Wednesday, April 16th at 6:30 pm
  • Buena Vista Elementary School (located at 2355 San Juan Ave) in the Multi-Purpose Room. 

 

APPAREL - TEAM SUITS & CAPS:

WCSC Latex Swim Caps: Our team director, Erica Gilmore, was at practice yesterday and will be there today giving out the red latex caps with our logo. If you do not pick up your cap in the first few weeks of practice please reach out to [email protected] to coordinate receiving one.

Elsmore Swim Shop Walnut Creek Swim Club - Elsmore provides our team suits and personalized caps. We highly recommend you try on your suits during their open hours. WCSC Silicone Swim Cap (Optional): Orders must be placed by April 16, 2025 through Elsmore. There will NOT be another opportunity to order personalized caps this season. Walnut Creek Swim Club - Elsmore

SPRING PRACTICE TIMES:

 

Spring Season Practice times can be found on our website. Summer practice schedule will be released in the next few weeks. The practice times listed for summer are from last season.

 

NEW FAMILIES: 

 

Please join us at the WCSC Parent Meeting on April 16th at Buena Vista Elementary to review what to expect throughout the year. This is a great opportunity to meet other families, sign up to be connected with a returning family, and ask any questions you may have.

Make sure to read the weekly newsletter, as it will provide all the information you need from week to week. Especially in the beginning of the season as there is a lot of information coming at you and much of it is time sensitive.
