Q: What is the water temperature of your pool?
A: The pool temperature is kept at 84 degrees.

 

Q: When can I take my kids into the pool?
A: When the pool schedule says open you can utilize the pool for open time with children. When the pool schedule says lap time it is designated lap swimming in lap lanes only.

 

Q: Why does the pool close when it is thundering and lightning?
A: Safety guidelines require the YMCA to close the pool during thundering or lightning. The pool must remain closed for 30 minutes after each thunder clap or lightning strike. It is for participant's safety that the pool is closed.

Children & Child Care

Q: Are strollers allowed on the track?
A: No, strollers are not allowed due to safety and liability reasons.

 

Q: Do you have a child care facility at the YMCA?
A: Yes. The Early Learning Community is located in the back half of the YMCA and the address is 635 Miller Street and phone number is 715-723-5135. Child care hours are 6AM-6PM for children 4 weeks-5 years old. The YMCA also offers school age care before and after school as well as the BB4C (Building Bridges for Children) program. The Early Learning Community has secured entrances in the front and back entrances and a code is required to enter. Please call for an appointment if you are interested in child care or school age programs.

 

Q: Is there child care or babysitting available while I work out?
A: Free drop in child care/babysitting is available for those that have family memberships. The service is available for those children on the family membership only.

 

Q: What are the age requirements for children to use facility?
A: General facility:  A child must be 8 years or older to be in the building without an adult. Pool:  A child must be 9 years or older to be in pool without an adult.  Teen/Youth Center:  A child must be 8 years or older to be in Teen/Youth Center without an adult.  Fitness areas including weight room and track:  A child must be 13 years or older to use these areas.  All 13 and 14 year olds are required to go through a wellness orientation for the weight room and cardio room.  Family time on track:  Designated family times on track schedule allow those that are 5-12 years of age to walk with a parent.  See schedule for times.

Fitness

Q: Do I have to sign up or pay for fitness classes?
A: All regularly scheduled fitness classes are included in your membership. You do not have to sign up to attend but we do ask you sign in before class so we can keep accurate attendance records. Classes included with your membership are: yoga, cycling, strength classes, variety, hip-hop, Zumba, "Dailys", step, cardio combat, kickboxing, core and circuit. Classes that are at an additional charge are specialty classes that only run for certain periods of time such as boot camp or women's strength training class.

 

Q: If I am a beginner to exercise what should I do?
A: The YMCA offers the Starting Line program which is free to members. This is a 12 week program that will orientate you to the cardio, nautilus, and free weight area. You will be assigned a coach who will meet with you 4 times during this 12 weeks period. You will also review your goals with your coach as you get started. There is also a class called "The Basics" that is offered on Thursday nights at 6:30PM. This class will be based on regular fitness classes but will be offered at a beginner level for those new to fitness classes.

 

Q: What is your refund policy?
A: The YMCA does not provide refunds back for classes if a participant changes their mind. The YMCA does not provide refunds or credits for classes that are cancelled due to weather. The YMCA will provide refunds or credits for classes that are cancelled due to the YMCA cancelling. Refunds are not given for memberships.

Q: What are your hours at the YMCA?
A: Winter and fall hours:  Monday-Thursday 5AM-10PM, Friday 5AM-9PM, Saturday 6AM-6PM, and Sunday 9AM-5PM Summer hours:  (Memorial Day to Labor Day)  Monday-Thursday 5AM-10PM, Friday 5AM-8PM, Saturday 6AM-4PM, and Sunday 9AM-2PM. 

 

Q: What is your address?
A: The Chippewa Valley Family YMCA is located at 611 Jefferson Avenue in Chippewa Falls.

 

Q: What is your refund policy?
A: The YMCA does not provide refunds back for classes if a participant changes their mind. The YMCA does not provide refunds or credits for classes that are cancelled due to weather. The YMCA will provide refunds or credits for classes that are cancelled due to the YMCA cancelling. Refunds are not given for memberships.

 

Q: What is your severe winter weather policy?
A: When school is cancelled or released early due to severe winter weather the YMCA will remain open BUT all classes are cancelled for that day. Classes include all fitness classes, swimming lessons, gymnastics classes, youth basketball, and family programs. The exception is swim team. Scheduled swim team practice will still be held and it is the parent's discretion whether their child will attend. If school is not held due to an inservice day all classes run as regularly scheduled. If weather is severe on a weekend the YMCA will to their best ability still hold regular scheduled classes but cannot guarantee all classes will run. There are no refunds or credits given for classes cancelled due to severe weather.

Q: How can I cancel my membership?
A: Memberships can be cancelled by filling out a “Written Notification of Cancellation” form at our front desk 30 days in advance of your next payment.  Cancellations will only be processed once the “Written Notification of Cancellation” form is submitted with your signature.  No EMAILS or PHONE CALLS will be accepted as a form of Membership cancellation.  If you have any questions please call the YMCA at 715-723-2201.

 

Q: What if I cannot afford a membership to the YMCA?
A: The YMCA offers financial assistance to those who cannot afford a membership. This is the Strong Kids program and is available to children, families, and adults who need assistance. Applications can be obtained from the front desk and are reviewed once a month at the beginning of the month.

Q: Why do I have to bring my membership card every time I come to the YMCA?
A: The YMCA requires that all members and guests check in to the YMCA whenever they are using the facility.  Members just have to swipe their card and it is very quick and easy.  For the guests that use facilities it is required they fill out a guest form and provide a picture ID.  The YMCA needs to know at all times who is using the facility for many reasons.
  1. For security purposes.  
  2. For members who would like to keep track of their visits for work reimbursements or for insurance reimbursements.
  3. In case of an emergency the YMCA could locate a person if they have checked in at the front desk. 

 

Q: Why do I have to have my picture taken as a member?
A: The picture that is taken is used to identify the person using the card is the person on the membership. The picture is only seen by the YMCA staff and does not appear on your card.  

 

Q: Why do I have to pay a joiner’s fee when I join the YMCA?
A: A joiner's fee is used to cover expenses of administrative fees to start your membership including the paperwork and initial payment as well as bank draft. It also covers the cost of all members on the membership receiving a membership card free of charge. A joiner's fee is only paid upon a new membership or if a membership has lapsed more than thirty days.
