Welcome to the WSSC Waves Swim Team! Our team competes in the West Suburban Conference with teams from Wheaton, Lisle, Hinsdale, Downers Grove, Clarendon Hills, and Lemont. Meets will be held both at the WSSC Pool and at the pools in the communities of the West Suburban Conference. Age and Requirements: The WSSC swim team is open to children ages 6-18 (as of 6/1/22). Whatever age your child is on JUNE 1, 2022 is the age group in which they will swim for the summer season. Try Out Expectations: Our 8 and under swimmers must be able to comfortably swim one length of the pool. They will swim freestyle and one other stroke of their choice. Swimmers 9 and over must be able to comfortably swim two lengths of the pool. They will swim freestyle, backstroke and either breast stroke or butterfly. New swimmers will be evaluated during our try outs by our coaching staff. Should our staff feel your child is not ready for our competitive swim team they will become eligible for our Junior Waves program or recommended to our swim lessons. General Information: All swimmers must be a member of the WSSC Pool in order to participate. If your child is a new, swimmers need to attend try outs BEFORE you register your swimmer. A Meets are held on Tuesdays and Saturdays. B Meets are held on Thursdays and Saturdays. Friends and relatives are encouraged to come to the meets to cheer their swimmers on! Practice Times (Practices are Monday through Friday) 8:00 - 8:55 8 & Under 9:00 - 9:55 9-10 10:00 - 10:45 Junior Waves 11:00 - 11:55 11/12 and 13/14 Fees: The swimmer fee for our program is $175 per swimmer for both the team and Junior Waves.
