Jr. Sharks 2022

What is Jr. Sharks? Jr. Sharks is a developmental program that feeds into our Sharks swim team. The Jr. Sharks program is meant to introduce young swimmers to the vocabulary and technique of a swim team swimmer while improving their physical and verbal coordination. Swimmers entering into the Jr. Sharks program should already have a base skill set of how to swim as well as float on their back. While our coaches excel at what they do, safety is of the utmost importance while these young swimmers are in the water.

Who is your Jr. Sharks Coach?

Head coach of the Jr. Sharks is Tracy Collett.

Our head coaches are assisted by a group of volunteer senior Sharks and recently graduated Sharks swimmers that have shown outstanding leadership skill throughout their time as a Shark and earned the privilege to help mold our future Sharks.

First Day of Practice: April 18th

Practice Schedule: Practice days for swimmers will be determined after registration, the number of swimmers registered will regulate the amount of practice days we can offer per swimmer. They will either be practicing 4 days a week or 2 days a week. This will not be determined until registration ends.

Freestyle will be classified as swimming on the stomach with the face down in the water. Arms are to come out of the water, reach forward then pull arm towards the stomach and repeat. Legs are to be kicking in an up and down motion from the hips to the toes.

Floating will be classified as head back, chin out of the water, belly button up close to the top of the water while the body is parallel to the water and not perpendicular.
