Talk of the Champions

SCAA Meeting Room – the SCAA club kindly gave us the use of their meeting room meaning we could invite a sizable number of swimmers.
This memorable event was attended by Siobhan Haughey, and International (Dutch) swimmer Arno Kamminga. Arno has recently moved to Hong Kong to train at the Sports Institute and is now registered as an SCAA swimmer!
Priority for attendance by our swimmers was given firstly to Performance squad, followed by Gold, Silver swimmers, on a first come first serve basis.
90 x HWI Team swimmers attended along with a few special guests from SCAA management.
Coach Chui introduced the two presenters, and guided the Q&A sessions (with the help of Giselle Lee)
Siobhan’s presentation was focused on swimmers’ mental preparation before and during competition. From her long experience, Siobhan gave many valuable tips and help to our young swimmers. Her understanding and personal interaction was well received, and so helpful!
Arno gave us all a valuable insight into the development and life of a champion. His pathway to the Olympics was a great inspiration to all the swimmers. Everyone loved the chance to feel the real Olympic medals too!
A big THANKYOU to our two champions for their amazing presentations and for all their kindness to our swimmers, including personally signing so many souvenir cards, etc!
We hope and look forward to more such opportunities to meet and learn from those who can inspire and motivate young swimmers in the pursuit of their dreams!
