PARENT VOLUNTEER POSITIONS
As a fully volunteer-run organization, The Lisbon Bullsharks expects and relies upon your help at all meets you attend, as well as helping in outside-meet activities such as committees and other jobs. No experience is required and training is provided.
You are requested to choose a Swim Meet job whenever you register your swimmer for a meet.

SWIM MEETS
Best for Newer Families
Ribbons
Attach labels on ribbons for swimmer participation and placing in events during the meet, or at home after the meet. Good for those with small children who need some attending to during the meet.
Card Prep
The day before a swim meet, work with the Stats team to attach labels to swim cards for all swim events for the upcoming meet. Can be done at home. Good position for those with small children who need some attending to during the meet.
Marshall Assistant
Assist swimmers as they move from waiting area to their deck position before an event.
Set Up
Set up the pool and deck before each meet according to specification provided by the team.
Clean-up
Put the pool deck back in order after each meet.
Timer
Collect the time card from the swimmer prior to a race and ensure the accuracy of information on the card. Time and record the time for each swimmer in the designated lane.
Card Runner
Collect cards from the timers at the end of each heat and hand to Time Recorder at Scorer’s Table.
Scorer’s Table Card Sorter
Receive cards from Card Runner and sort by event, time, and team. Match DQ slips with cards. After time is entered into system by Stats team, place cards into team’s filing bin.
Merchandise Sales
Set up a table at swim meets to sell team swag (caps, shirts, hoodies, etc).
Photographer
Take photos at meets and other events and send to Facebook administrator.
Best For Veteran Families or Families With Older Children
Head Timer
Ideal for a veteran timer. Head timer calls for and gives Timer’s meeting approx 30 minutes prior to the start of the meet (notify announcer to gather timers at specified location). During the meet, Head Timer ensures all timers’ watches are cleared before each race, signals starter timers are ready, and assists timers if their watches fail to start once a race has begun.
Announcer
Announce all swim events and any relevant meet announcements to ensure that the meet runs according to schedule. Setup and take down audio equipment.
Marshall
Organize the swimmers in the waiting area before their event. Seat swimmers in the order in which they will swim their event by lane and heat. Check that time cards are filled out completely and correctly. (Assistant Marshall experience preferred)
Stats Assistant
Record swimmers’ times into Hytek computer system during the meet and complete all entries by the conclusion of the meet.
Stats Lead
Enter and upkeep all team statistics to include: swimmers, meet event, heats, lanes, and race times. Print out time cards for all league meets. Print and distribute ribbon labels.
Head Official
A position that requires certification by USA Swimming. To be eligible, an individual must have worked one season as a Stroke and Turn judge and as a Starter Official. (League training required). Responsible for ensuring that EFSL swimming standards are properly adhered to by the Bullsharks and properly monitored at meets conducted by the Bullsharks.
Starter Official
A position that requires certification by USA Swimming. To be eligible for the position of the starter an individual must have worked one season as a Stroke and Turn judge. The Starter is responsible for the correct start of each event during a meet. (League training required)
Stroke and Turn Official
Position requires certification by USA Swimming. The responsibilities include: watching each assigned lane during each event to determine if the strokes and turns are being completed correctly and completing DQ cards for swimmers that have been disqualified from a particular event. (League training required.)
Meet Director
Responsible for directing all home meets and serves as the official representative (spokesperson) for the team at away meets. Ensures that the meet is running as smoothly and efficiently as possible, in accordance with USA Swimming technical rules and/or regulations. Serves as Referee if a Referee is not available. Ensures that the pool are is reserved and prepared, ensures that adequate supplies are available for all meet operations, as well as refreshments for designated recipients. Confirms that adequate trained personnel are available to run the meet by consulting parent volunteer rosters by each team. Coordinates with Head Official and visiting teams on meet developments.
Committees & Other Jobs
Events Committee
Plan and arrange team social activities including Start of Season Meeting/Party, Spring Fun Meet, End of Season Banquet/Picnic, other events. Determine and coordinate with venue and caterer; team gifts and awards, decorations, setup and clean-up.
Membership Director
Assist and communicate with prospective and new families as they apply, try out, and join the team.
Merchandise Coordinator
Collect orders from parents, purchase items, and sell merch at swim meets.
Travel Coordinator
Research and coordinate with hotels and transportation companies with regard to team-attended away meets. Communicate booking options and pricing for families traveling, organize responses and communicate with needed hotels.
Volunteer Coordinator
Work with the Board to define all the jobs required for swim meets, social events, and the banquet. Perform outreach to families to identify volunteers. Track volunteer hours per family.
Facebook Administrator
Respond to group "join" requests and messages. Post team events and photos in a timely manner. Enforce pleasant and professional standards, and maintain and privacy standards of team social media pages.
Website Administrator
Edit and update website as needed.
