About the OPY Swim Club
The OPY Swim Club is the competitive swimming arm of the Osage Prairie YMCA.
The Nevada Neptunes have been part of the Nevada community for more than 30 years and were previously run as an independent organization. Like many organizations, it was severely impacted by the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. For many years, the Nevada Neptunes (summer) and the OPY Tridents (winter) worked hand-in-hand to support the sport of swimming in the community, and in 2022, the Osage Prairie YMCA was able to keep the Nevada Neptunes alive by adding it to its aquatics programming and bringing the Neptunes and the Tridents together under one roof.
Summer Swim
The summer season begins the week of Memorial Day and runs through the first weekend of August. The Neptunes compete in the Tri-State Conference, which is made up of 12 teams. During the regular season, there is a competitive swim meet each weekend, and then the final two weekends of the season host two championship meets.
The OPY Summer Swim Club is open to swimmers of all skill levels (ages 4-18) and is a great opportunity for young athletes to keep in shape over the summer while also building conditioning, endurance, and strength. While the team does attend competitions, there is no requirement to compete. Many of our athletes over the years have come for the workouts without ever attending a competitive meet.

Winter Swim
The winter season begins in mid-September and runs through mid-March. The Tridents compete in the Heartland Area Swim Conference, which is made up of teams from other YMCAs in Missouri and Illinois. While the season is longer, the Tridents only practice twice a week, and they average about one competition per month. In order to compete, swimmers must be registered Osage Prairie YMCA members. As with the summer, there is no pressure on swimmers to compete, but it is recommended.
The OPY Winter Swim Club is open to swimmers of all skill levels (ages 4-18) and is a great way for athletes to continue their competitive swim career or maintain athletic activity in the off-season from their primary sport.
