Group Level Descriptions
Otters: (Ages 6 months-3 years)
Pre-requisites: Parent(s) must accompany their child in the water to each class
- Comfortable getting into water
- Exposure to moving in water
Small Fry: (Usually ages 3-6)
Pre-requisite: Potty trained, comfortable with strangers (instructors), wait their turn on pool stairs, comfortable getting into the water (not including face)
| Level 1:
- Face in water
- Supported front and back float
- Supported rolling from front to back
- Supported flutter kick and front crawl
- Supported jump in

Level 2:
- Bubbles for 3 count
- Bobs 4 count (breaks acceptable)
- Front and back float for full 5-seconds
- Semi-independent front crawl, backstroke (8 yards)
- Semi-independent rolling front-to-back
- Retrieve object at the stair level
- Semi-supported jump-in (fully submerged with wall grabs)

Minnows: (Usually ages 6-9)
Pre-requisite: Comfortable with Small Fry skills, able to hold onto the wall, listens to instruction
| Level 1:
- Bubbles/hold breath for 5 count
- Bobs 6 count (1-2 breath breaks)
- Independent front (flip on back to breath) and back crawl (½ pool length)
- Independent rolling front-to-back
- Semi-independent streamline with kicks
- Retrieve object at the shallow end
- Independent jump in at the shallow end
- Treading water for 5 seconds

Level 2:
- Hold breath for 10 count
- Bobs 10 count (1-2 breath breaks)
- Independent front (with side breaths) and backstroke (1 pool length)
- Independent streamline with kick of choice for full 3 seconds
- Dolphin and breaststroke kick
- Retrieve object at the middle of the pool
- Independent jump at the middle of the pool
- Treading water for 10 seconds

Barracuda: (Usually ages 9-12)
Pre-requisite: Comfortable with Minnows skills, comfortable in the deep end of pool
| Level 1:
- Flip turn without the wall
- Freestyle or backstroke with turn of choice (1 ½ pool length)
- Butterfly and breaststroke (½ pool length)
- Streamline with 5 kicks
- Independent jump and swim to the opposite side (middle of the pool)
- Treading water for 20 seconds
- Kneeling dive off the side of the pool

Level 2:
- Complete swim into a flip turn and push off consecutively
- Freestyle or backstroke with flip turn (1 ½ pool lengths)
- Underwater breaststroke pull-out
- Butterfly and breaststroke (1 pool length)
- Jump/dive from deep end to shallow end
- Squatting jump from side of the pool
- Retrieve object in deep end (5 feet)

Dolphins: (Usually swim team experienced)
- Technical refinement of strokes and turns
