Stamford take 5th Place at ACSIS High School

Stamford American International School were delighted to host ACSIS High School Swim Championships on Saturday 9th November at the Lincoln Pool. It was the biggest swim meet Stamford have yet to host with over 350 swimmers attending from 13 international schools across Singapore.

The format of the team competition allows for a maximum of 40 swimmers per school, 20 boys and 20 girls. Points are scored from the top 16 places within each event, with relays scoring double points.

Stamford Lions Swim Team saw 10 athletes score in 23 events. They were the 5th place boys team and 7th place girls team at the event with 184 points and 80 points respectively. The team took home 6 medals, 4x silver, and 2x bronze from 2 individual swimmers and 1 relay team. There were plenty of individual performances to be celebrated. With 74 personal bests being achieved a 63.24% PB rate is something to be proud of.

The highest FINA points was hotly contested this year within the team, Lear Eldar produced 607 FINA points from his 400m freestyle in 4:10. As a gauge 1000 points represents the world record and allows performances to be compared across strokes. Miles D’Agostino was not far behind in 597 FINA points for his 50m Freestyle performance in 24.06. Daniel Looi collected 594 FINA points in his 100m breaststroke in 1:06.

In terms of medal count and team points, Daniel Looi was the victor with 3 silver medals in the 50m & 100m breaststroke and 200m IM. Miles D’Agostino was also a standout taking home bronze in 50m & 100m freestyle. The Boys Freestyle Relay team consisting was also successful collecting a silver medal.

In the race to collect the most team points for the school, Daniel Looi came out on top with 45 points. Other points scorers included 9 others, Miles D’Agostino (41pts), Lear Eldar (36pts), Sydney Londergan (36pts), Mimi Sato (28pts), Axel Silver (13pts), Cristina Bright-Alvarez (5pts), Sera Poh (4pts), Ethan Cunningham-Burley (4pts), Emma Bright-Alvarez (2pts), Boys A Free Relay, Boys A Medley Relay and Girls A Free Relay.

“There were many close races that are impossible to mention.” said Aquatics Director, Paul Dowey. “I’m very proud of not only how hard our swimmers raced, but the turn out from parents and volunteers to make this meet happen.”
