New Academic Year 2020/2021 is here!

Beginning our Academic Year felt much like an anti-climax. The burden of restrictions upon the Swim Academy reduced our normally vibrant and noisy environment to just a few swimmers at a time. The Summer Training Camp had been an outstanding success and students had started their studies with hope of returning to the water and a full schedule. Those dreams have had to be delayed a little longer…
We have been proud of those athletes who have shown such loyalty to the Stamford Lions Swim Academy over the past months, it hasn’t been easy for them. Our devoted staff have been conjuring up new ways of motivating swimmers on a weekly basis as well as making use of their time by upskilling themselves, particularly with First Aid.
Pool Programme
Our current pool-based programme has allowed Grade 7, 8, 9 & 10 to make a return to the water under the dedicated supervision of our staff, training twice per week in the pool. We have been providing “Self-Directed Sessions” through our mini-site to supplement their need. If you are still interested in signing up to our programme we may be able to accommodate you!
Online Dry-land Programme
To continue our connection with the younger age groups and add to older members training, we have been delivering “Online Dry-land Training” live through Google Meet. We have seen a great improvement in the movement competency of our swimmers and have now progressed to adding resistance with Strength Bands available for purchase directly from us. We still have plenty of spaces with a regular daily attendance of 20-25 swimmers Monday-Thursday.

FriYay
We have renamed Friday as “FriYay”! it normally involves a game of Kahoot. It is great opportunity to finish the week and recognise the successes. We have put together some Golden Kick boards to recognise our highest achievers…each month a boy and girl they will get to write their name on it! Are you on it?!?
Looking Positively Forward
We still remain positive that we can deliver a swim programme and look forward to the time that our successful track record demonstrates our ability to operate under restrictions. Thank you to all the parents that have remained supportive during this period. We all truly miss seeing the swimmers on a daily basis.
