Canadian International School (CIS) Huskies 6th Annual Swim Meet

Stamford American International School

Stamford Lions Swim Academy competed over the weekend at the Canadian International School in West Singapore on Saturday 1st October. There were 24 student-athletes taking and for 13 of them it was their first time in a 50m long course pool.

Swimmers arrived at 7:15am and over the course of the morning competed in 66 different races. There were a massive 59 personal bests (PB) swum, an impressive 89.39% PB rate. Much of this is down to first time swims in a long course pool, an opportunity our younger swimmers don’t often get, but a great result nevertheless.

Domin, Zoe, Amina and Thomas all met “B Times”, while Ezra made an “A Time” for his 50 freestyle. These time standards are used to compare swims across age groups, events and genders. More information on USA National Age Group Motivational Standards can be found here.

A highlight of the meet was an overall points score competition.  Ezra and Jasmine took top honours in the 10yr old category, placing first in the 10yrs & under. Stephan took a 2nd place while Lara took 3rd in the 11-12yrs category.

A special mention should go to Ezra, who broke the 10yr old record for 50m & 100m freestyle in a long course (50m) pool.

Thankyou to team managers Jenny, Carmen and Wencke for giving up their weekend to help.
