Stamford Make the Step Up to Singapore Junior Nationals

Singapore National Age Group Championships took place at OCBC National Aquatic Centre from Friday 8th -  Sunday 10th March 2024. Stamford American were represented by 4 young swimmers who had swam under the qualifying standard for the meet. Ezra, Nevan, Zoe and James were all representing Lions Swim Academy.

 

James competed in the 50m freestyle and did not let th enerves get the better of him. Despite having just qualified two weeks previously he posted a 37.91 finishing 69th.

 

Ezra swam personal bests in every event he swam. Ezra swam in the 400m IM placing 15th knocking a massive 42 seconds off his previous best time, he placed 15th. He swam the 200m Freestyle with a new personal best of 2:27 and finished 19th. In the 100m freestyle he swam a 1:08 and placed 20th. His 400m freestyle was also promising with a 20 second best and finishing 15th overall. He broke 3 school records in the 200 & 400m freestyle aswell as the 400m IM.

 

Nevan swam a best time in the 200m IM in 3:13 placing 50th. His 50m backstroke time of 39.96 was a new best and he finished in 34th. Whilst he posted a 1:20 freestyle time, his best finishing place came in the 100m backstroke with a 1:26 to finish 27th.

 

Zoe was racing the most number of events and the sole female from Stamford taking part. She swam 5 out of 6 personal bests. In the 100m breaststroke she placed 18th with a 1:40 personal best. In the 50m freestyle she swam 36.62 to finish 40th, another best time. Her 200m IM of 3:26 was just outside her best to finish in 30th. However, she was not deterred and she posted a 2:55 for her 200m freestyle and finished in 16th. Her 400m freestyle was equally impressive and she dropped 39 seconds to finish in 14th breaking her own school record. Zoe’s best ranked swim came in the 200m breaststroke, dropping her time to 3:37 and finishing in 11th just outside a top 10 result.

 

Every swimmer walked away with a personal best. From 15 swims there were 13 personal bests, a massive 86.67% PB rate! There were 4 school records from 2 different swimmers (Ezra x3 & Zoe x1). Great work all!
