Executive Director - Ron Aitken
Coach Aitken is a United States Olympic Coach and Level 5 ASCA (American Swimming Coaches Association) swim coach, a level achieved by only 1-3% of the highest rated coaches in the United States. He has been with the Sandpipers since 1994, and leads the team as the Executive Director, Head Coach, and coach for the Sandpiper National Team.
President - Heather Orr-Ellis
Heather Orr-Ellis was appointed in the Spring of 2020. She graduated with a degree in Education from Oklahoma Wesleyan in 1999 and received a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction in 2005 from Grand Canyon University. She has been with the Clark County School District for 23 years where she has been a teacher, coach and now Learning Strategist. Heather coached volleyball for 15 years, taking both mens and womens teams to state championship games. She has been a heart of Education Award Finalist twice. She has served on several committees, currently on her school's Students Financial Committee and Lead Team. She has been part of the Sandpipers since 2014. Her son, Luke, is a lifelong Sandpiper and currently training in the program's National groups. Since joining, she has become one of the team's co-Volunteer Coordinators.
Vice President - Thomas Farrell
Thomas Farrell was appointed as the Vice President in the Fall of 2021. He has a Finance Degree from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and is currently a member of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Office of Finance. He has been a member of the Sandpipers of Nevada for 17 years as a swimmer, coach, and board member. While his desire to grow the Las Vegas swimming community has been his long-standing goal, he is also the Co-Chairman of the Desert Swimming Committee, Voting member of the Southern California Swimming Committee’s Board of Directors & House of Delegates, as well as an advisor to the Southern California Swimming Committees Age Group Chair.
As the senior business aide to the Head Coach & CEO of the Sandpipers of Nevada, he was tasked with writing the Business Plan for the development of an elite aquatic facility, creating the financial projections for the facility, and meeting with potential stakeholders for the project. His expertise from years spent in the swimming community and financial background have continued to prove to be valuable to the Sandpipers, Swimming and Las Vegas communities.
Secretary - Jane Campbell
Jane Campbell was appointed in Fall of 2021. Jane brings previous board experience from being the Parliamentarian for Whiteman Air Force Base Spouses' Club and also was on the Committee of New Memberships on Southeastern Virginia Aquatics. Since joining the Sandpipers in 2020, she brings in many hours of volunteering experience, such as working as volunteer coordinator at various Sandpiper hosted swim meets to being social coordinator for many different swim groups. She has 4 swimmers on the Sandpipers team all in different swim levels, from the youngest being in Stroke School to the oldest being in Senior Elite. When not on deck, Jane enjoys reading, movie nights in, and spending time with family.
