At age 10, I joined a competitive team in West Hollywood, where I stayed till the age of 13. I tried other sports like soccer and cross country but found myself going back by the time I transferred to Immaculate Heart High School. I was very tough on myself, more tough than my coaches or parents. It was both a pro and con, where I was able to accomplish the goals I had set for myself but also it depleted my love and drive to keep going with new goals in the sport. For this, I hope to inspire swimmers to never give up and let the negative self-talk win the battle. But to encourage preservence and mental strength through failures and wins of the sport.
