The Watertown Area Swim Club (WASC) began in the early 1960’s as a summer park and recreational team.  Soon after forming the club, the Dolphin became the club mascot. The club participated in meets as a seasonal team until 1974 when the Watertown Recreational Center was built; this allowed the club to start hosting events and compete year round.

In 1994 the Watertown School Board unanimously voted to recognize the lettered high school swimmers.  The club currently hosts a number of meets each year, including the Candy Cane Invitational swim meet in December, and the Optimist Big Apple swim meet in late January or February. WASC is looking forward to the opening of the new Watertown Recreation Center which will include a new 8-lane 25 yard pool with a seperate recreation facility that can be used for warm up/cool down during championship meets.

Swimming is well recognized as an excellent life long sport.  We strive to teach our athletes the importance of sportsmanship, as well as personal discipline and responsibility, while at the same time having fun in a challenging training environment.  Swimmers can competitively swim beginning with the 8 and under age group on up to the Masters program which includes ages 19 and above.
