Coach Shelly has contributed 36 years of her life to the City of Seal Beach Aquatics program. She has managed the Learn-to-Swim program, channeling her passion for teaching kids into helping them become not only efficient and strong swimmers but also fostering a deep love for the water.
Shelly believes in imparting techniques that empower children to overcome challenges, instilling not just swimming skills, but life skills that come with conquering obstacles and being encouraging teammates. Her journey has been one of shaping young lives through the joy of swimming and the invaluable lessons it offers.

Head Boys Coach Dimitris Lappas  / 14U Boys / High School / [email protected]

Dimitris Lappas was born in Athens, Greece. He started playing water polo for Panionios WPC at the age of 12. He participated in many competitions with this club at the national and international level. He also played for the junior national team of Greece for three years with many accomplishments. The most significant was earning 2nd place in the Junior World Championship in Sibenik, Croatia in 2009. With the same team, he also placed 3rd in the Junior World Championship in Volos, Greece two years later. Dimitris also played at California State University, Long Beach from 2012 till 2016. He earned two All-MPSF Honorable Mentions his junior and senior years in college. He was a member of the 2015 college team that was placed 2nd in MPSF. He also received three All-Academic Honorable mentions during his four years in college. Dimitris graduated with his undergraduate degree in Business Finance, Class of 2016. Currently, Dimitris is a water polo coach at Poly HS and Long Beach Shore Aquatics WPC. It’s his first year with the Boys and the Girls HS program. He has been coaching at Long Beach Shore since December 2015. His first year was the head coach for the 16U team, and currently is the coach of the 12U Boys team.

Coach Jason comes to us with experience coaching a multitude of different levels. From novice athletes who are new to the sport, to national level athletes as an Olympic Development Coach. Relocating back to Southern California 2010, Jason has created an identity as a top developer of girl water polo athletes. Building numerous competitive girl programs. Jason has worked as an Olympic Development coach for USA Water Polo since 2012. He has also coached numerous top 10 Junior Olympic teams over the years. His 2016 & 2018 team took home the championship. Jason currently is the Director of Aquatics at Saint Joseph’s Preparatory Academy in Lakewood.

I began playing for Shore at age 11.  Tony Azevedo was the popular 8th grader at my elementary school, and I was one of many kids inspired by Tony to take up water polo. Thankfully my friends and teammates at Shore including Anthony Artukovich(USC, Pro in Australia), Matt Sagehorn(CIF POY, USC, Pro in Australia), Cody Walter(LMU), Kyle Wootten(USC), Jacob McIntosh(UC Berk.), Scott Swanson(CIF POY, UCLA, Pro in Australia), Chay Lapin(CIF POY, UCLA all-time saves leader, 2012 Olympian), Scott Huntley(USC), Victor Aquino(JO's 14u MVP), Tim Gross(UCSB), and Joe Sherrin(CSULB) were all really good at water polo, because I was mediocre and we would not have won any of the national age-group championships or CIF rings that we did if it were just up to me.  The team two years ahead of us at Shore included Garrit Barth(Pepperdine), Matt Norris(USC), Thomas Hale(CIF POY, USC, Pro in Spain), Clint Wilson(CSULB), Mark Morimoto(UCSB), and Sir Jonathan Foster(CSULB). As a group we were coached by Johnny Bega, Ricardo Azevedo(Olympian), Cassie Azevedo, Chris Segesman(Olympian), Robert Lynn(Olympian), Tony Martinho(9x CIF Champion), Adam Wright(Olympian), Adam Lee, Chi Kredell(Olympian), and the legendary Klaus Barth(Olympian).  I've had a close relationship with Coach Chi since my freshman year of high school, and I feel lucky to be working under him and Kristin. I love the sport of water polo and Shore Aquatics. As a young player at Shore I felt it was important to carry on the proud tradition that previous Shore athletes and coaches had established, but more than anything I simply loved playing and practicing water polo with my friends.  It was tough to keep us out of the pool.  As a coach I have been able to work with some great athletes ranging from splashballers to 18u collegiate bound student-athletes.  I have been lucky to work with and learn from some great people including but not limited to Coach Kristin Barth-Kredell, Coach Joe Bilish, Coach Genn Billish, Coach Jason Mills, and Coach Brendan Patterson.
