We offer 3 meet leadership roles that can reduce your club fees. See below for details.
Meet Official
1. We pay for all your Officials-related expenses. SSCD will reimburse you for your training class and your non-athlete application with USA Swimming.
2. For every session you work at our meets you get a $25 credit. There are 4 sessions per meet, so one person can get a $100 credit per meet. If you work all 3 meets it would total $300 which would be approximately one month of fees, depending on which group your swimmer is in. If you have two certified officials in your family working the meets it would obviously double your credits. In addition, we highly encourage our officials to help at meets we attend (where we are not the host). When you do this you can earn $15 per session. SSCD will reimburse 8 of these per official, per family for the swim year (Sept. - Aug.). If you want to help at even more meets, you can, but we cap our officials credits at 8 for the year. Again, these reimbursements will show up as account credits, post swim meet. You will not need to inform us when you work SSCD hosted meets because our Meet Ref will be keeping track and providing us a summary of officials and the sessions worked. You will need to email me when you do non-SSCD hosted meets, so I'm aware, and can post your credits properly.
3. Once you are done with certifications, we will provide you with two free SSCD officials shirts. Just let me know when you are certified and make sure I have your preferred size for your shirts. We will be ordering these for you if we do not have your size on hand.
4. At swim meets you will have access to the hospitality room (for meets you are actually working). There is usually great food at meets so this is a nice perk!
5. Being on deck at meets sets a great example for the kids and we sincerely appreciate all our Super Parent Officials. Without you there is no sport!
6. If you are an achiever-type, there is a whole process of advancing thru the ranks of the Officiating world. We really encourage this. In the beginning you'll be a Stroke and Turn Judge and by the time you get to the final stage you can wear the famous blue shirt and be the Meet Referee (this person runs the entire meet on race day and works behind the scenes with the Meet Director to ensure everything is set up correctly). As you slowly gain experience, you can learn from Molly Cady how to advance. There is no rush to advance and some folks stay Stroke and Turn Judge throughout their time on deck....this is just to give you a little summary of what you can do.

Hospitality Chair
SSCD runs 3 swim meets per year and we have to feed all the coaches and officials. Organizing the food and managing the hospitality room is a BIG job that takes a lot of prep before race day and involves being at the meet BEFORE and AFTER each day of racing. This job requires someone who is a tireless worker, has attention to detail, is great with customer service and has excellent communication skills. Each hosted meet is an opportunity to have your entire month of membership dues (for your highest level swimmer) paid for. Every volunteer job on SSCD is important, but there is not a single job that requires the level of time, energy and commitment that the Hospitality Coordinator requires. This job is not for everyone. You should have a food handlers permit and experience in hosting and food prep. If you are interested in this job please reach out to the club meet director via email [email protected]. Please review the swim meet list for the season and note our three hosted meets and make sure you are available at least one or more of those dates.
Meet Director
SSCD runs 3 swim meets per year and that requires coordination with PNS/Facilities and our Meet Officials teams. Planning and organizing a successful swim meet starts a few months ahead of the actual event and requires someone who has attention to detail, some basic knowledge of how swim meets are organized and has excellent communication skills. Planning for and scheduling/organizing all of the volunteers who will help on the days of the meet is a large portion of this position. Each hosted meet is an opportunity to have your entire month of membership dues (for your highest level swimmer) paid for. If you are interested in this job you can send an inquiry to the club meet director at [email protected] . Please review the swim meet list and note our three hosted meets that would apply.
