High Performance and Senior Groups

• Swam competitively for 13 years for CSC, Lakeside High School, and University of Houston, graduating with a business degree.  
• Head Coach for Summer League, 20 years.
• Head Coach High School, 20 years.
• Club coach, 32 years, with the last 13 as the Head Coach.
• Favorite activities outside of coaching are boating in the San Juan’s and traveling to Scotland.

Michael has been in and around the aquatic scene in Washington for almost two decades. After swimming for Cascade Swim Club for 8 years (including 1 year under Lisa and 3 more under Tom), he then swam varsity for all 4 years and captained his high school swim team at Edmonds-Woodway. For the past decade, he has been teaching swim lessons at Lynnwood. This is currently Michael's 5th year as an assistant coach for the EWHS Boys swim team, and 3rd year as the EWHS Girls swim team head coach. Previously, he coached the Dale Turner Orcas and Yost Penguins for 2 years. He is very excited to see many new and old faces at SSCD!

A.J. has competed, coached, and instructed at many levels of swimming across the country. 

He swam competitively with a variety of club teams in Idaho, Kentucky, and Washington.

A.J. graduated high school from Cascade High School where he played for the marching band, swam, and pole vaulted.  

Asahel then went on and swam for Wright State University until medical issues took him out of the program. After college A.J. coached for Sting Ray Swim Club and Cascade High School for Track and Field. He took a break from coaching to pursue music and other career opportunities in 2017 making 2025 his first year back in the sport.

Outside of swimming Asahel also spends time volunteering and working at Fire Mountain Scout Camp. He’s always open to questions so feel free to ask him anything!
