Brownsville Aquatics Safe Sport Policy
Safe Sport is USA Swimming’s (USAS) program to eliminate sexual abuse and misconduct in our sport. Brownsville Aquatics Swimming embraces this program for the same reason. Neither sexual abuse nor misconduct are tolerated by USAS or Brownsville Aquatics. As, then President of USAS, Tim Hinchey stated “The key aspect to the success of the Safe Sport program is for every member to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity that might be a violation of our Code of Conduct. We simply cannot assume that those being abused will voluntarily come forward, even if given the opportunity to do so in a confidential manner.“
Full implementation of the Safe Sport Program involves six key components:
- Policies and Guidelines
- Screening and Selection
- Training and Education
- Monitoring and Supervision
- Recognizing, Responding, and Reporting
- Grassroots Engagement and Feedback
By virtue of Brownsville Aquatics’s Code of Conduct, Policies and Procedures and this program page, Brownsville Aquatics is committed to providing our participants a safe environment to thrive in our programs.
