GAINESVILLE, Florida, April 27. FORMER UCLA men's swimming coach Ron "Stix" Ballatore passed away earlier today from complications due to his battle with throat and bone cancer, various sources have confirmed with Swimming World. He was 71 years old. Ballatore coached many Olympic gold medalists and world record holders including Brian Goodell, Bill Barrett, Robin Leamy, Bruce Hayes and Tom Jager during his coaching career. One of Ballatore's pinnacle moments during his coaching career came in 1982 when he led the UCLA Bruins to the 1982 NCAA Division I Championships....

Gulf Coast Swim Team won the Team Titile in the 2012 Florida Swimming Open Water Championships held on April 28, 2012 at Miromar Lakes, FL.  West Florida  Lightning Aquatics  finished 2nd, and Bolles School Sharkes finished 3rd.   2012 All-Star Challenge results pending

The Florida Swimming Open Water All-Star Team, and the Florida Gold Coast Open Water All-Star Team will meet at Miromar Lakes for a practice session, and clinic with USA Swimming National Team Member Claire Thompson.  They will then be treated to a pasta dinner at Miromar Lakes Beach Club.
