The 2011 Summer Sectionals are now over and meet host, Gator Swim Club won the combined team title over 2nd place Fort Lauderdale Aquatics. Finishing 3rd was the Bolles School Sharks.  The Women's High Point winner is Elizabeth Beisel, and the Men's winner is Fernando Ernesto Santos. Meet results, standings, and more can be found here.

Election for FL Junior Athlete Representative to the 2011-2012 Florida Swimming Board of Directors will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2011 during prelims of the “2011 Florida Swimming LC Senior Championship”, in Fort Pierce, FL. This is a reminder to all FL Chartered Clubs that the deadline for applying for the “Irene & Bud Hackett Award” is July 11, 2011. The two $1,000.00 awards goes to one male and one female high school senior each year. Applications received in the FS office on Monday, July 11, 2011 will also be considered. 2 Florida Swimming competitors did very well at the US National 10K, and 5K held in Ft. Lauderdale, FL on June 10-12.  Claire Thompson (WFLA) finished 5th in the 10k to qualify for the US National Team, and Becca Mann (CAT) finished 2nd in the 5K. Full Results

The 2011 Florida Swimming Open Water Championships are now completed, and the Gulf Coast Swim Team has won their 4th consecutive open water team title in the event.  Top 5 teams were Gulf Coast Swim Team (GCST) 177, Swim Florida (SWIM) 77, and Bolles School Sharks (BSS) 21, Lakewood Ranch Waver Runners (LRYW)  20, and Carrollowod Village Swim Team (CVST) 19.
