May 8, 2014 Coaches, I hope this letter finds you doing well. On April 28, 2014, a tornado struck Tupelo, MS, and caused damage primarily in residential areas and a business area that is less than three-quarters of a mile long. There was one fatality in our county that was attributed to the storm and miraculously, only minor injuries were reported. SwimToday 101 - Grow the Sport Swim clubs provider can join the SwimToday campaign where 10 industry partners are combining resources with the goal of increasing swimming participation in the sport. Congratulations to Eien McGee of Sunkist Swim Team for selection to USA Swimming's 2014 Diversity Select Camp. Eien was selected along with 35 other top athletes around the country (18 boys and 18 girls ages 14-16) to participate in a three-day camp this spring at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. Shockwave Aquatic Masters and Tupelo's Convention and Tourism Bureau will be hosting the Dixie Zone Masters Long Course Championship June 27-29, 2014.
Tupelo Convention and Visitors Bureau, Shockwave Aquatics and the Mississippi Swimming delegates at the USA Swimming convention have successfully won the bid to host the 2015 Southern Zone Age Group Championships at the Tupelo Aquatic Center. All Star teams representing each LSC in the Southern Zone will compete in the five day long course meet July 28 thrrough August 2 of 2015.
