Tuesday August 19: We started the day off with the riddle of the week, then moved onto Math where we played the dice game. Then we took a lunch break, since it was hot outside we stayed indoors, after the children ate their lunch we played games for the remainder of lunch. Then we started Science, we are learning about the solar system this semester, so we discussed the solar system and labeled a blank sheet of the planets. Then we read the prologue and chapter one of our book "I am Malala", and then discussed what we took from the chapter. Then for the last ten minutes of class we went outside to play.
Wednesday August 20: We started the day with the riddle of the week, and since there were different students than Tuesday we read the prologue and chapter one of the book "I am Malala", and discussed what we took from the chapter. Then we went to lunch and since it was nice outside we ate lunch outside. After lunch we did math and played the dice game, and for the younger kids the game was modified for them. Then we did grammar and talked about the different parts of speech, after we were done with that we worked on two madlibs as a group. Then during the last ten minutes of class we went outside to play till parents came to pick them up.
Thursday August 21: Since both sets of kids from both days figured out the riddle of the week they unlocked the joke of the week. Then we went to the kitchen and made blueberry muffins where each kid had a different job to do. While we waited for the muffins to bake we read chapter two of our book "I am Malala" then talked about what we took from that chapter. Then we went outside for lunch and playtime. After lunch we came back inside and played the dice game, we got very excited to roll the dice and get "the funky star" which meant multiplication. I was very proud that all of the students no matter how hard the equation was they all tried their best and worked so hard to figure out the answers. Then they got a ten minute break to play a quick game of "night at the museum" and then we came back to the table and talked about the continent of Asia while looking at the map of it. Then they had to draw their version of the map of Asia and then each student picked the country that they are to find five facts to share next Thursday about. Then the last ten minutes we went outside to play till parents came to pick them up.
Tuesday August 26: We started off with our riddle of the week, then we read "I am Malala" chapter 4&5. Then we got on the subject of Sign Language and I taught them how to sign "Hi, my name is ____. Nice to meet you." Then we went outside for lunch. Then we talked about the different characteristics of the planets in our solar system, then everyone drew their own planet and created their characteristics for their planet. Then we played the dice game, everyone didn’t use the multiplication table when the dice landed on multiplication. Everyone worked so hard to figure out their answer, they all did a wonderful job.
Tuesday September 2: we listened to chapters 7,8&9 in "I am Malala", then we ate lunch inside and played UNO. Then in Science each student picked a book and found something to teach the class about on the solar system. Then we played the math dice game but added two more dice for a challenge.
Wednesday September 3: We listened to chapters 7,8&9 in "I am Malala"then we made bookmarks. Then we went and had lunch outside and played. Then we learned about Pronouns and identified the pronouns, verbs and nouns in different sentences. Then we played the dice math game but added two more dice for a challenge.
Thursday September 4: We started the morning learning about Curry and then Miss Anne taught everyone how to make Sweet potato curry with coconut rice. Then after eating we all went outside to play. Then we listened to chapters 10,11&12 in "I am Malala" and then talked about it. Then we played the dice game and then played a different game of going to the sign to finish the equation.
Tuesday September 9: the classes were combined and we started with a new book “where the mountain meets the moon”, then we took a lunch break and played Uno. Then we did a science experiment with gravity and different size balls. Then we played the dice game.
Wednesday September 10: we started by listening to chapters 13,14&15 in “I am Malala”. Then we took a lunch break and played indoors. Then we played the dice game, took an outside break and did some more math outside. Then we played banana grams game.
Thursday September 11: we started out combining the classes and making the moon pies, then watching a tour of the Ramen Noodle factory. Then we had ramen noodles for lunch. Then we re-listened to “I am Malala” chapters due to some students not attending tues/weds. Then we remembered the ASL alphabet, how to sign “hi my name is ____”, then we learned how to sign the colors, words that start with A and B, then the teacher signed small sentences and the class said what she signed
