LAUSANNE, SWITZERLAND--At the beginning of last month, FINA posted information on the secondary qualifying race for the 10K races at the 2012 Olympics. The qualifying races will be held June 9 (women) and 10 (men) in Setubal, Portugal. Provisional entries were due March 1, 2012; final entries are due May 11, 2012. The remaining spots for the Olympics 10Ks (15 males, 15 females) will be allocated based of the results from these races. The top-10 finishers from the 10K races at the 2011 Worlds are already qualified for the 2012...

LONDON, UK--A report from "The Australian" newspaper indicates that starting blocks with new features are being tried-out at this week's 2012 British Championships in London, England. The blocks feature side-panel lights that light when the starting system goes off and also can light to indicate the top-3 finishers of a race. LAUSANNE, SWITZERLAND--The International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced last Friday that 6 cities have expressed an interest to host the 3rd Summer Youth Olympics in 2018. The potential bid cities are: -Buenos Aires, Argentina; -Medellín, Colombia; -Glasgow, Great Britain; -Guadalajara, Mexico; -Rotterdam, Netherlands; and -Poznań, Poland.
