Florida Swimming

Training Groups and Descriptive Criteria

 

Gold

Practices:  8-9 Total Practices will be offerred per week.
6 afternoon practices of 120 minutes will be offered per week and 2-3 morning practice of 60-90 minutes. Weights and dryland sessions will also be a part of the Gold group program.


Requirements: Practice attendance in Gold Group is expected and required. A lack of attendance may lead to the athlete being placed in a different group. 
Swimmers are also required to be on time for practice and actively participate in dryland. 
Placement in Gold Group is at Coaches Discretion. 

Meets:  Gold Group Swimmers are required to attend home meets in Ormond Beach,
Attend 4 Away Meets, and a
ttend the highest level championship level meet they qualify for.

Equipment required for this level:  Fins, Kickboard, Pull Buoy, Hand Paddles, Snorkels

 


Senior

Senior Level Criteria:

Practices: 5-6 practices of 75-90 minutes will be offered per week. Swimmers are expected to participate a minimum of 2-3 practice per week. Athletes will be offered morning and afternoon sessions. 

Timeliness is expected. Athletes in the Senior Group will generally be of high school age.

Athletes will have the opportunity to become USA Swimming members in order to participate in meets. Completing USA Swimming registration will not be required. 

Required equipment: Kickboard, Pull Buoy, Hand Paddles, Fins 

Recommended Age Range: 14-18 years old

 


Blue

Blue Level Criteria:

Practices:  6 practices of 90-120 minutes will be offered per week.  Swimmers are expected to participate a minimum of 5 practices. Athletes will also have several dryland practice per week.  

Meets:  Swimmers are expected to attend home meets in Ormond Beach, 2 Away Meets and also attend the highest level championship level meet they qualify for.

Equipment required for this level:  Fins, Kickboard, Pull Buoy, Hand Paddles, Snorkels

Recommended Age Range:  10-14 year olds

 


 

White

White Group Criteria:

Practices:  5 practices of 60 minutes minutes will be offered per week.  Swimmers are encouraged to participate in 4-5 practices per week.

Meets:  Swimmers are expected to attend home meets in Ormond Beach (2 Days) and the highest level championship level meet they qualify for.

Equipment required for this level:  Fins, Kickboard, Pull Buoy, Cap, Goggles, Mesh Bag and Water Bottle

Recommended Age Range:  8-14 year olds

 


 

Bronze

Must be able to swim 1 length (25 yards) legal Freestyle/Backstroke and have a knowledge of Breaststroke and Butterfly.  

Practices:  4 practices of 60 minutes minutes will be offered per week.  Swimmers are encouraged to participate in 3-4 practices per week.

Meets:  Swimmers are expected to attend home meets in Ormond Beach (2 Days)

Equipment required for this level:  Fins, Kickboard, Pull Buoy, Cap, Goggles, Mesh Bag and Water Bottle

Recommended Age Range: 5-12-year-olds

 


 

YMCA Swim League

Sign-up for Swim League is handled directly thru front desk at YMCA not online via the Hydro4 Swimming site. 

Must be able to swim 1 length (25 yards) legal Freestyle/Backstroke and have a knowledge of Breaststroke and Butterfly.  

Practices:  2 practices of 45minutes will be offered per week.  Swimmers are encouraged to participate in 2 practices per week.

Meets:  Swimmers are encouraged to participate in any inter-squad meets plus any home meets.

Equipment required for this level:  Fins, Kickboard

Recommended Age Range: 5-12-year-olds

 


 

Masters

Along with our Age Group Program, we provide an opportunity for adults to participate in our Masters Program. Individuals 19 and older with any swimming skill level are invited to join. Swimmers must register with United States Masters Swimming https://www.usms.org/join-usms/join-or-renewOur masters swimming group is as varied as each person that joins. They include: parents swimming while their kids are at practice, cross training and tri-athletes honing their swimming skills and improving endurance, those swimming to relieve stress after work, former swimmers wanting to get back in the pool, lap swimmers, swimmers with rehabilitation needs, and swimmers that are training for USMS swimming competitions. Coaching is based on the desires and needs of each individual. 

 

 


 

Placement and movement between all training groups is at the Coaches Discretion.
