Matthew Klotz sets Deaf World Record number 6 at the Tristan Vessel Invitation in Baton Baton Rouge, LA, 9-11 June 2023. Klotz bettered his own world record in the 50 backstroke (LCM) with a time of 25.32 and then set a new deaf world record in the 50 butterfly (LCM) with a time of 24.54. Klotz' times are faster than the posted Deaf World Records but must be confirmed by the International Committee of Sports for the Deaf (ICSD) before being made official. We are excited to announce Team USA for the 6th World Deaf Swimming Championships hosted by Argentina in August 2023. Congratulations to our athletes and Coach Maccoll. The Team will compete in grueling 7 days of completion which is expected to be attended by more than 30 countries. At the Deaf Olympics in 2022, the USA returned home with 55 medals -- 35 of which were won by our swimmers. We expect an equally exciting performance this year at Worlds!!

The International Committee of Sports for the Deaf (ICSD) yesterday announced that 17-year old American swimmer Carli Cronk has been named the 2022 ICSD Sportswoman of the Year Award. The Sportswoman and Sportsman of the Year awards comprise the ICSD’s highest recognition for “exemplary sport achievements” by a deaf female athlete and a deaf male athlete. Collin Davis set a new USA deaf swimming record in 200-yard individual medley with a time of 1:49.67. Davis broke the old record by nearly four seconds, beating out Matt Klotz’s time of 1:53.52, which was set in 2013. The record, which is pending verification, was set at the SMU Invitational on November 17th, 2022. Collin swims for the University of Wyoming where he is a freshman. USA Deaf Swimming is forming Team USA to compete in the 2023 World Deaf Swimming Championships in Buenos Aires, Argentina in August 2023. The 6th World Deaf Swimming Championships is a long course meters competition being held from August 13 – 19, 2023 in the Olympic Swimming Complex – Parque Roca, Buenos Aires where more than 30 countries and 300 athletes will participate. Carli Cronk, a 16-year-old swimmer from San Antonio, Texas, was USA Swimming's 2022 Trischa L. Zorn Award recipient. USA Swimming hands out this award to honor a swimmer or relay team with a disability for the previous year’s outstanding performances. Among previous award recipients are Rebecca Meyers, Jessica Long, Marcus Titus and Erin Popovich.
