Race Swami Holiday Service Project
ROSE PARK — Race Swami has announced that it's swimmers will be partnering with The Road Home Shelter of Salt Lake City with a service project during the holiday season. Swimmers will be volunteering at the Candy Cane Corner, a Christmas Store set up for homeless families to shop for Christmas presents.
Besides volunteering at the Candy Candy Corner, SWAMIs will be encouraged to bring new, unwrapped toys, books, housewares and/or warm winter clothing.
Co-founder Mary Chris Finnigan said that Race Swami is excited and privileged to be helping out a great local organization. "We feel that this is essential to our mission as a community-driven program.," Finnigan said. "This is what we want our kids getting involved in aside from the swimming component. We're looking forward to helping The Road Home out with this honorable event."
Dates for service assignments will be announced later this month.
Race Swami is an outreach swim club based in Rose Park. Besides collaborating with The Road Home Shelter, Race Swami has partnerships with Rose Park-based Guadalupe Center, as well as working with such organizations as the United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation's Utah Local Chapter, the Sorenson Multicultural and Unity Fitness Center and other local community-driven projects.
