SWAMI's Emily Murnin Named Academic All-State
SALT LAKE CITY -- Each season, the Utah High School Athletic Association (UHSAA) announces the recipients of the prestigious Academic All-State Teams and the 2013 Judge Memorial swim team, led by SWAMI's head coach Matt Finnigan, has just been announced. Congratulations to senior EMILY MURNIN for earning Academic All-State in UHSAA Girls’ Swimming -- a very special honor. Emily was one of a mere ten swimmers state wide who was named to the Academic All State list.
Emily's academic career at Judge Memorial in Salt Lake City is a noted compilation of numerous awards, scholarship earnings, and endless successes. An accomplished musician, Emily plays a number of instruments and appeared in the fall musical the past three years.
Emily also has won several literature awards for essays written over the years and has earned scholarships from all of them. Emily has been a writer for the award-winning student newspaper, The Bulldog Press. She also was a contest winner at many math contests held around the state. Emily was also named team captain to both the Judge Memorial tennis team, and the Judge Memorial swim team this school year. She has helped the tennis squad to two consecutive state championships, while assisting the girls' swim team to three state titles.
Earlier this year, Emily was accepted to the University of Notre Dame, although she has not officially announced her college plans for next fall.
