SWAMI Board Member Dr. Pat Eisenman receives Distinguished Faculty Award at U of U
SALT LAKE CITY -- Dr. Patrcia Eisenman, a Race Swami board member since the club's inception in January 2011, was recently honored at a Community Engagement lucheon at the University of Utah for The Distinguished Faculty Service Award, which honors a faculty member who has demonstrated a commitment to the campus-community connection through a life of active, unpaid community service and the integration of service with research and teaching. Faculty service must be based on a long-term commitment to making a positive difference on the campus and in the community, and to the educational value gained by students through community work, beyond the traditional roles of faculty.
Pat is currently Professor of Exercise Sport & Science at the University of Utah. She has spent her career putting her knowledge to work for her community doing everything from creating a training regimen for the Judge Memorial Catholic High School swim team to assisting Race Swami in building a viable outreach swim program in the west side community of Salt Lake City.
Most recently, Pat worked with the Community Faces of Utah, an organization addressing health disparities in Salt Lake City among people of various ethnicity's. She also created and implemented the capstone Service-Learning course ESS 4900 which engages undergraduate students in developing and delivering exercise regimens to underserved community members including people with disabilities and seniors.
It's clear Pat embodies asset-based community engagement, and Race Swami is fortunate to have her serve on the board to assist the organization in serving it's mission to Salt Lake City's west side.
Race Swami board member Dr. Pat Eisenman was presented with a $1,000 check for being honored
