Young SWAMIs Excel at CHAT Mini

COTTONWOOD HEIGHTS, UT --  Fifteen SWAMIs descended on the pool of Cottonwood Heights Recreation Center to compete in the hallowed waters of the 2013 CHAT Mini Meet, a storied outdoor short course spectacle for developing athletes. The meet was held on Friday, June 21st.

Leading the way for Race Swami's girls team was 8 year old powerhouse Sephra Masina, who finished 1st in the 8 & Under 50 Backstroke, where she tounched the wall in a team record scorching 45.11. She also turned in a 3rd place performance in the 50 freestyle (41.05) and a 5th place finish in the 100 free (1:42.24). Swimmers were allowed to enter a maximum of three races for the CHAT Mini.

On the boys side it was Benjamin Hulleberg who led the charge under the banner of the Fleur-di-Lis, finishing 3rd in the 100 IM, 7th in the 50 Fly, and 9th in the 50 Free for the 9-11 boys division.

In all, SWAMIs improved more than 90% of their previous best times, while continuing to learn new race strategies and skills headed by Swami coaches David, Chelsea, and Megan. "It was a wonderful experience and I love to swim fast!" noted 6 year old Swami stalwart Paloma Velazquez. "I cannot wait til the next meet! It is going to be really good."
