First Swim Meet Info and USA Swimming Registration Info

Hello BASS Families,

The first meet of the season is in just a few weeks!  All swimmers and parents will choose their own races for the meets (see the directions on how to do this below).   I would love to see as many swimmers as possible competing in meets this season but please do not feel like you have to compete in meets if your swimmers do not feel ready yet.  There is no pressure at all! There is also information on USA Swimming registration below. Registering through USA Swimming is only necessary if you wish to compete in meets this season.

 

Meet Info:

  • Date: Oct 6-8

  • Location: Brooks Family YMCA in Charlottesville

  • Meet Invite file can be seen HERE.

  • There will be meet fees of $5.50 per event and a swimmer surcharge of $2.50 per swimmer

  • The 13 and older swimmers will swim in the morning session while the 12 and under swimmers will compete in the afternoon session on Saturday and Sunday of this meet.

 

Follow the steps below to register for the Cavalier Aquatic Fall Kickoff meet.

  1. Go to FluvannaSwimming.org

  2. Scroll down and look for a tab under “Team Events” that has the title “Cavalier Aquatic Fall Kickoff” and select the “Edit Commitment” button on the event

  3. Click on your swimmer's name that you wish to register.  It will take you to a new page, select the dropdown menu and select “Yes, please sign (insert name here) up for this event” 

  4. You can then choose which events you would like to swim.  I would always recommend not doing more than 3 events in a single session.  You can view the day and session on the left hand side of the screen.  The meet is held October 6th-8th so day 1 will be on October 6th, day 2 on the 7th, etc.  

 

USA Swimming Registration Info

USA swimming has moved to a system where their USA Swimming Membership is kept up to date by the athlete’s family rather than their team.  Returning athletes do not need to worry about their USA swimming membership as long as they registered last year.  All USA Swimming memberships are good for a calendar year period.  Memberships processed on or after September 1 will be valid through December of the following year.  It is important to note that you only need to register with USA Swimming if you wish to participate in swim meets.  There is no need to register if you are not participating in meets this season.
