BASS Season Recap and Spring Swim Info

Michael DiFazio

Dear BASS Families,

I hope this email finds you well! As we wrap up another fantastic swim season, the coaches at BASS wanted to take a moment to express our gratitude to all of our families for your continued support and dedication to making this season great for our athletes. It has truly been a rewarding journey and we are incredibly proud of all our swimmers for their achievements.

This season, we had 59 athletes participate on the swim team, some for part of the season and some for the entire Fall and Winter season-the most we have had since I started coaching in 2021. It has been amazing to see the progress of each and every swimmer throughout the season. A special highlight has been our Learn-to-Swim program, where we had over 20 additional swimmers involved-each one making strides in building confidence and water safety skills that they will carry with them throughout their lives. Eight of those Learn-to-Swim swimmers ended up joining our team this season as well!

One of the most exciting moments for our team this season was our performance at the district championship meets. These took place over two weekends: February 14-16 for our 12-and-under athletes, and February 28-March 2 for our 13+ athletes. We had countless best times swum by our athletes during these two weekends. We also had 10 swimmers qualify for a finals appearance, with 7 of those athletes making it for the first time ever. Watching everyone's hard work throughout the season pay off at our championship meets was truly special.

We still have a few of our older athletes who are not finished with their seasons quite yet. We have six BASS athletes that train with us who will represent FCHS at their HS state championship meet tomorrow (Good luck Flucos!), we also have one swimmer who will go on to represent BASS at the Virginia Swimming Age Group State Championship Meet from March 13-16 (Good Luck Abby Caruso!).

I’ve attached the results from the 12-and-under championship meet HERE for your review-please take a moment to look through the results and celebrate the individual and team accomplishments! I will email out the PDF version of the 13+ championship results as soon as it is made available to me.
